Lead day-to-day cyber security operations, including security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and improvement of technical security controls. Support compliance and resilience initiatives, provide security guidance across technology projects, and coordinate reporting, awareness activities, and external security partners.
At GenesisCare, we're looking for a Cyber Security Lead to join our Information Technology team and play a key role in protecting our systems, services and information across the UK.
Reporting to the Head of Information Security (CISO), you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of our cyber security operations, working closely with internal technology teams and external security partners.
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management and the continuous improvement of our technical security controls. You'll also support the delivery of a secure, resilient and compliant technology environment as our organisation continues to evolve.
What you'll do: • Lead and coordinate day-to-day cyber security operations across GenesisCare UK. • Oversee security monitoring, threat detection and managed Security Operations Centre (SOC) services. • Coordinate cyber security incident investigations, response and remediation activities. • Manage vulnerability assessments, prioritise security risks and drive remediation. • Implement, monitor and continually improve technical security controls across our technology environment. • Support Cyber Essentials Plus certification and the ongoing development of our Information Security Management System (ISMS). • Provide practical cyber security advice across infrastructure, applications and digital transformation projects, promoting secure-by-design principles. • Produce security metrics, dashboards and reports to support management and governance. • Coordinate phishing simulations, cyber awareness activities and security communications. • Support cyber resilience, disaster recovery testing and recovery assurance activities. • Work closely with internal stakeholders and third-party security providers to strengthen our overall security posture.
What you'll bring: • Proven experience in cyber security, security operations or a technical infrastructure role with significant security responsibilities. • Experience managing security monitoring, incident response and vulnerability management activities. • Experience working with managed SOC providers and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security, including Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA and Privileged Identity Management (PIM). • Practical experience with Microsoft Defender XDR and Purview, including threat detection, data loss prevention and Secure Score improvement. • Experience using Heimdal Security solutions for patch management, threat prevention, antivirus and endpoint protection. • Experience leading or supporting an ISO 27001-aligned ISMS, including risk assessments, policies, audits and Cyber Essentials Plus certification. • Good understanding of endpoint, identity, cloud, email and network security technologies. • The ability to assess technical security risks and coordinate effective remediation. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues. • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to manage competing priorities. It would also be advantageous if you have: • Experience working within healthcare or another regulated industry. • Knowledge of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. • Experience with Microsoft Azure security technologies. • Experience supporting penetration testing, external audits and security certification programmes. • A relevant degree, professional cyber security certification or equivalent practical experience.
This is a national, homebased role with occasional travel to GenesisCare centres and supplier locations across the UK. You'll need a full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, insured for business use. Some flexibility outside normal working hours may occasionally be required to support cyber security incident response activities.
