The Opportunity

Location: Remote
Experience: 1-2 years of experience.
Nature of Employment: Contract

PrimeTimer is looking for a Content Specialist to serve as the final editorial gatekeeper before the content goes live. This role goes beyond proofreading and copy editing. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional editorial judgment, be capable of verifying facts, identifying weak or misleading narratives, and ensuring every article meets PrimeTimer’s quality standards.
You will work across multiple entertainment and general-interest verticals, including TV Shows, Movies, Celebrity News, U.S. Daily Soaps, Reality TV, Human Interest, AI, Astronomy, True Crime, and other trending topics. The role requires someone who can confidently distinguish credible reporting from speculation, detect factual inconsistencies, and recognize generic AI-generated content that lacks originality, depth, or editorial value.
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast- paced newsroom where both speed and accuracy matter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Authenticate every article before publication by verifying facts, timelines, names, quotes, references, and contextual accuracy.

  • Edit content for grammar, structure, clarity, readability, tone, SEO, and editorial consistency.

  • Identify factual inaccuracies, unsupported claims, logical inconsistencies, misinformation, and plagiarism.

  • Analyze AI-assisted content and identify generic AI slop, repetitive writing patterns, hallucinated facts, keyword stuffing, robotic phrasing, and low-value narratives.

  • Ensure articles meet PrimeTimer's editorial standards while maintaining originality and human readability.

  • Review coverage across entertainment and general-interest verticals, including TV shows, movies, streaming, celebrity news, reality TV, daily soaps, AI, astronomy, true crime, and human-interest stories.

  • Verify information using official sources, interviews, court documents, studio announcements, press releases, social media statements, and other reliable references.

  • Improve headlines, metadata, image captions, and overall story presentation where necessary.

  • Escalate legally sensitive, ethically questionable, or potentially defamatory content whenever necessary.

  • Assist in refining editorial processes, style guides, and quality assurance standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in editing, journalism, digital publishing, content quality assurance, or fact-checking.

  • Outstanding command of written English with strong grammar and editing skills.

  • Exceptional research and verification abilities.

  • Strong understanding of entertainment, television, movies, streaming platforms, celebrity culture, reality television, and pop culture.

  • Working knowledge of AI, astronomy, true crime, and other general-interest topics is highly desirable.

  • Ability to identify fabricated information, misleading narratives, AI hallucinations, and generic low-quality AI-generated content.

  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and digital publishing workflows.

  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Expectations:
  • Flexibility is essential. Candidates should be available to work night shifts or extended hours whenever editorial requirements demand, particularly during major entertainment events, breaking news, or urgent publishing situations.
  • Must be comfortable handling multiple articles simultaneously while maintaining editorial consistency.
  • Should possess strong critical thinking skills and be capable of independently questioning weak sourcing or unsupported claims instead of simply editing language.
  • Passion for entertainment journalism and digital media is highly preferred.
