AI Summary

The Social Media Manager will travel extensively to Latin American coffee-producing communities to document the daily lives and challenges of farmers. They will translate complex agricultural practices into compelling, authentic video stories for U.S. consumers.

What You Will Do

Deep Field Presence (60–80% Travel): Travel extensively to remote coffee-producing and agricultural communities across Latin America (including El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia, and beyond). You must be comfortable with long truck rides, rural conditions, and staying directly in farming communities.

Relationship & Agronomy Support: Act as the direct face and voice of Mayorga at origin. You will sit down with producers, listen to their challenges, understand their soil and crop conditions, and reinforce our long-term direct-trade partnership.

Raw Selfie-Style & Interview Documentation: You will capture the daily realities, struggles, and triumphs of our producers using a highly authentic, unedited style. This means shooting intuitive, high-quality selfie-style videos, farmer interviews, and field walk-throughs on an iPhone or simple mobile rig. (Think raw, transparent mini-documentaries, not glossy commercial production.)

Agricultural Translation: Translate complex agricultural realities—like agroforestry and water management plans, organic pest management, climate challenges, and regenerative farming practices—into simple, powerful storytelling that our U.S. consumers can connect with.

Editing Support: Deliver raw footage and a well-crafted brief to our in-house editor, who will create the video per your directions.

What We Care About (The Ideal Profile)

The Dirt-Under-The-Nails Mindset: You have a background or deep education in Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Science, international development (NGOs), or rural fieldwork. You know what a coffee tree looks like and you understand the realities of smallholder farming.

Cultural Fluency & Respect: You don’t just speak Spanish; you have a deep understanding of and respect for Latin American agricultural communities. You know how to sit down, accept a cup of coffee, and converse with deep humility and respect with a producer who has worked the land for decades.

The Ultimate Solo Operator: You don’t need a production crew, a director, or a lighting setup. Armed with just an iPhone and a microphone, you can confidently interview a producer in challenging field conditions, including rain or mountainous terrain, and capture excellent audio and compelling video on your own.

Qualifications

Location: Must be physically based in Latin America, with the ability to travel extensively to major coffee-producing regions.

Languages: Full professional fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory. You must be able to interview producers using conversational and regional Spanish and write clear notes in English.

Physical Requirements: This role requires the ability to perform essential field duties, including navigating steep and uneven terrain, carrying basic field gear, and working in varying altitudes and tropical climates, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Application Requirement: STANDARD RESUMES AND APPLICATIONS ALONE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. (We previously posted for this role and received over 1,400 applications.) To be considered, you must also submit a 30- to 60-second video in English explaining your background in agriculture, fieldwork, or coffee and why you are interested in extensive travel and interacting with and sharing the stories of Latin American producers and their communities. If you require a reasonable accommodation or an alternative method for completing this application requirement, please contact us.
