VitalSource®, is hiring a(n) Content Librarian to contribute to our Product Management team located in Raleigh NC or Boston MA (preferred locations). Applicants outside of these preferred locations will be still considered.

 

Summary:

Do you love bringing order to complexity and using data to solve real problems? VitalSource is looking for a Content Librarian to help power our comprehensive global course materials catalog. In this role, you'll combine cataloging expertise with a data-driven approach to keep our catalog accurate, complete, and easy to discover, directly shaping the experience of instructors and students finding the materials they need.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research requested course materials, ensuring each item is accurately identified and routed for action.
  • Run established daily workflows to ensure course materials are appropriately actioned and routed, and that availability is determined for the requesting customer.
  • Identify content gaps and new Publishers to sign in support of course adoption requests.
  • Analyze catalog records and ensure metadata for each item is complete, accurate, and discoverable across all systems, channels, and users.
  • Identify metadata gaps and collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Inventory teams to resolve them.
  • Propose and collaborate on initiatives that strengthen our catalog or make our workflows more efficient.
  • Partner with Product teams to escalate projects needed to support global catalog optimization.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

         Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in library science, business analysis, information studies, or a related field.

         3+ years of related work experience.

         Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

         Prior experience using business intelligence tools and dashboards, such as Metabase and Looker.

         Ability to travel up to approximately 25%, based on business needs.

         Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity in response to changing needs and situations.

         Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.

         Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities.

         Ability to execute and capitalize on opportunities during peak course start periods.

         Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

         Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple teams and levels of the organization.

         Ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets to distill actionable insights.

         Ability to summarize large amounts of data and findings in a concise, clear format.

         Aptitude and interest in learning new tools and technologies, including AI-powered platforms.

         Ability to apply new knowledge, technology, and procedure to job responsibilities.

 

 

Preferred Skills:

         Knowledge of the product development process, using tools such as Atlassian Confluence and JIRA.

         Aptitude and interest in learning and using various web-based and/or proprietary computer applications, including but not limited to Salesforce, Slack, and Zoom.
