Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It is the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

A bit about the role

We are looking for a Content Designer to join our digital team for 6 months, primarily working on Parent Talk, Action for Children’s digital parenting support service.

This is a hands-on content design role. You’ll use evidence and user insight to design, review and improve accessible content and journeys, working closely with parenting coaches, subject matter experts and digital colleagues.

You’ll report to the Senior Content Designer, who leads Parent Talk’s content strategy, governance, standards and prioritisation.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Design and improve accessible, inclusive content and user journeys for parents, carers and young people.

  • Use research, analytics, search insight, user behaviour and feedback to understand user needs and inform content decisions.

  • Work with subject matter experts to turn complex and sometimes sensitive information into clear, useful content.

  • Take assigned content through research, design, review, publication and ongoing improvement.

  • Contribute content design expertise to multidisciplinary delivery work where needed, working with product, development and technical colleagues.

  • Advocate for evidence-led, user-centred and accessible content across the organisation.

Let's talk about you

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Hands-on content design experience, including identifying and defining user needs from evidence and translating them into effective digital content or journeys.

  • Experience using research, analytics, search insight, user behaviour, feedback or other evidence to make and evaluate content decisions.

  • Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design content around user needs, including complex information where accuracy matters.

  • Practical experience of accessibility and inclusive content design.

Experience of content management systems, user testing, SEO and writing for the web would also be useful.

Please see the Job Description for the full list of accountabilities and requirements.

Closing Date: Thursday 24th September 2026.

Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 28th September 2026 by MS Teams.

Please note we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Our Commitment to Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism

At Action for Children, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We know that racism and discrimination create barriers, and we are taking active steps to challenge these inequalities in our organisation and in the communities we serve.

We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under-represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.
