What you will be doing:
The Supervisor works with the engagement team to plan engagement objectives and audit/review strategy.
This person will participate in the performance of review procedures, with a particular focus on complex, judgmental and specialized issues. The Supervisor will work with Seniors, Experienced Staff and Staff to provide training and guidance in completion of assigned projects as well as developing and delivering creative solutions to client needs. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, and ability to meet time constraints.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise accounts payable and payroll processing.
- Ability to analyze financial data and perform analysis for areas such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital assets and long-term liabilities.
- Proficiency in preparation of depreciation schedules, debt amortization schedules, and trial balances.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot inconsistencies and variances in account analysis.
- Accounting knowledge necessary to propose adjusting entries to correct errors in accounting, when necessary.
- Ability to work with consolidated QuickBooks companies.
- Understanding of cash basis and accrual basis of accounting.
- Ability to prepare monthly financial reports and present financial data to clients/business owners/board of directors.
- Ability to complete information for property tax audits and sales tax audits.
- Ability to process and issue IRS Form 1099.
- Plan and supervise all components of engagements with varying degrees of complexity.
- Develop an understanding of the client’s business and becomes a “functional expert” in the area.
- Prepare and review work papers and perform various procedures to verify accuracy and validity of client’s financial matters.
- Anticipate and address client concerns and identifies and address problems promptly as they arise.
- Build effective working relationships with client personnel and meet time budgets and client deadlines.
- Guide and mentor team members while providing managers with performance insights for engagement evaluations.
- Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, application of professional and LSL standards, proficient at researching and writing.
- Punctually enters time and expenses to support efficient billing processes.
- Develop prospective contacts and relationships beneficial to the Firm.
- Participates in the firm recruiting program, developing a rapport with candidates.
- Develop skills related to business development - develops referral sources, is involved in community, and participates in business and professional organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree, required with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics, preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years professional services firm experience, or minimum of seven (7) years private sector experience, required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams), required.
Experience using CaseWare, preferred.
Proficiency within QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online, required.
Valid CPA license or actively working toward obtaining the license.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory position.
Monitor and check staff performance levels, ensuring that work is carried out within set deadlines, budget, and quality standards.
Responsible for the development, coaching and training of all levels of staff.
