The Role


We are looking for an experienced UK Education Recruitment Compliance Officer to join our team in South Africa.

The successful candidate will work exclusively with our UK recruitment team and UK-based candidates. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end compliance and clearance process for teachers, teaching assistants and other education professionals before they are approved to work in UK schools.

This is a critical position within the business. You will ensure that every candidate file is complete, accurate and compliant with UK education recruitment, safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements.

The initial contract will be for three months. Candidates who perform well may be offered an extension or a longer-term opportunity.



Key Responsibilities


Manage the full compliance and clearance process for UK teachers, teaching assistants and school support staff.

Obtain, verify and record all required candidate documentation.

Complete identity and UK right-to-work checks.

Process and verify Enhanced DBS certificates and DBS Update Service checks.

Obtain and verify professional references in line with safer recruitment requirements.

Check qualifications, teaching certificates, QTS status and employment history.

Complete Teacher Regulation Agency and relevant prohibition checks where required.

Obtain overseas police checks and additional documentation for candidates who have lived or worked outside the UK.

Identify and investigate gaps in employment history.

Ensure safeguarding declarations and compliance forms are completed correctly.

Conduct or support candidate registration and compliance calls.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records on the company CRM.

Chase outstanding documents and keep candidates informed throughout the process.

Work closely with UK recruitment consultants to prioritise candidates required for urgent school placements.

Review completed candidate files and confirm when candidates are fully cleared for work.

Conduct regular compliance audits and resolve missing or expired documentation.

Ensure candidate information is handled securely and in accordance with UK GDPR and company procedures.

Maintain a strong understanding of current UK safeguarding, safer recruitment and education recruitment compliance requirements.



Essential Experience


Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:


Recent experience working in a compliance role within a UK education recruitment agency.

Direct experience clearing UK teachers, teaching assistants and school support staff for work in UK schools.

Strong working knowledge of Enhanced DBS checks, the DBS Update Service, UK right-to-work checks, references, qualifications, overseas police checks and safer recruitment procedures.

Understanding of UK safeguarding requirements and Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

Experience using recruitment CRM systems and maintaining detailed compliance records.

Immediate availability to begin the contract.

Contract Details


This position is offered as an initial three-month contract and requires an immediate start.

There is the potential for the contract to be extended for candidates who demonstrate strong performance, accuracy, reliability and the ability to manage UK education compliance files successfully.
