About the role

Duolingo Math is building a two-tiered parent community: a large-scale public Facebook Group that drives parent reach and trust, and a private, invite-only Inner Circle that powers ongoing product feedback, UXR, and GTM validation.

We’re looking for a Community Manager to grow and program the public community alongside Performance Marketing, operate and curate the Inner Circle, and build the systems that connect them. You’ll act as the bridge between parents and the teams shaping product, messaging, and creative.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role at the intersection of Growth Marketing, Performance Marketing, Product, and UXR.

This is a remote, part-time contract role (up to 30 hours per week) requiring availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours, with occasional flexibility to collaborate across international time zones.

About Duolingo Math

Duolingo Math is building the best math education in the world and making it universally available. After launching as a standalone app in 2022 and joining the main Duolingo app in 2023, we made a strategic shift in 2025 to focus on a rigorous product that actually teaches, not just drills.

Today, learners follow a Common Core-aligned grade path (grades 2–12) or search by topic, with bite-sized exercises, multi-step problem walkthroughs, hints, and clear explanations on demand.

This is the most ambitious product moment in Duolingo Math's history, and we're building the parent community to be a core part of how we learn what's working, what's not, and how to bring this to millions of families.

What you'll do

Tier 1 — Grow the mass community (public Facebook Group)

  • Develop and execute a growth plan to scale the public group — defining acquisition channels, content strategy, and member activation approach, with clear milestones and success metrics.
  • Partner with Performance Marketing as the primary acquisition engine: co-develop creative, audience targeting, and landing experiences for paid campaigns; own the post-join experience that converts a paid click into an engaged member.
  • Feed Performance Marketing validated messaging, creative concepts, and audience insights drawn from member behavior.
  • Program a content calendar that gives parents a reason to join, return, and invite peers — parenting conversation, math content, product moments, member spotlights.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteer parent moderators to scale moderation as the mass community grows.
  • Build viral and referral mechanics that compound paid acquisition; activate partner pipelines (Scholastic, PTA, Boys & Girls Clubs, 4-H) for organic recruitment alongside paid.

Tier 2 — Curate and operate the Inner Circle (private testing panel)

  • Build the recruitment funnel from the mass group into a curated Inner Circle of 200–500 members based on engagement signal and lightweight vetting.
  • Program the Inner Circle for high-signal feedback: structured product prompts, message-testing polls, feature previews, and live Q&As with the Math product team.
  • Partner with UXR to integrate structured studies into the Inner Circle — recruiting participants and running lightweight in-group research.
  • Deliver validated message angles, creative concepts, and proof points to Performance Marketing for paid campaign development.
  • Manage the incentive program (Super codes, gift cards, leaderboard) and ambassador track for top contributors.

Across both tiers — Operate health and the feedback loop

  • Operate intake and triage for product signal: bugs to engineering, usability friction to UXR and Product, feature requests into a managed backlog.
  • Produce structured community signal reports for Product, GTM, Performance Marketing, and leadership on a defined delivery schedule

What you'll bring...

  • 5+ years in community management, audience development, social media, or growth marketing, with hands-on experience growing an online community to tens or hundreds of thousands of members.
  • Strong editorial and content instincts — you understand what makes parents share content with other parents, and you can write prompts that get a community to actually respond.
  • Operational rigor at scale: comfort building moderation systems, ambassador programs, referral mechanics.
  • Experience translating qualitative input into structured insights that inform product, marketing, and creative decisions.
  • Sound moderation and escalation judgment, especially in a parent/family context where trust is the product.

Nice to have...

  • Background with parent, family, education, or kids' product audiences.
  • Experience running ambassador, creator, or super-user programs at scale.
  • Prior experience supporting product testing, beta programs, or research recruitment inside a community.
  • Familiarity with viral loops, referral program design, or community-led growth playbooks.
  • Experience operating tiered or multi-surface communities (public + private, general + ambassador).
