About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator to support project estimating and quantity takeoff activities for commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing accurate takeoffs, extracting project data, and delivering estimating outputs within established timelines.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience interpreting commercial construction drawings, is highly detail-oriented, and can work independently while maintaining clear communication with the estimating manager. The role will initially focus on smaller projects during onboarding before progressing to larger and more complex assignments.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial construction plans, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift or similar estimating software.

• Extract, organize, and maintain project measurement data required for estimating activities.

• Interpret project scope, notes, and specifications to ensure complete and accurate takeoffs.

• Communicate proactively regarding project requirements, workload capacity, and timelines.

• Deliver completed takeoffs and estimating outputs within agreed-upon deadlines.

• Collaborate closely with the estimating manager to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.

• Follow established SOPs, workflows, and quality assurance processes.

• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail across all deliverables.

• Support ongoing process improvements and documentation initiatives as needed.

Competencies and Qualifications

Must-Have

• 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.

• Strong experience performing quantity takeoffs from commercial construction drawings.

• Proficiency with PlanSwift or comparable estimating/takeoff software.

• Advanced ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work.

• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and terminology.

• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

• Reliable remote work setup with stable internet connectivity.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience supporting U.S.-based commercial construction projects.

• Familiarity with OneDrive or similar document-sharing platforms.

• Experience using multiple estimating or takeoff software platforms.

• Previous experience working remotely with distributed teams.

• Construction-related degree, diploma, or technical education.

• Experience contributing to estimating process improvements or workflow optimization.
