Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.

(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year—if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later.)

At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas, expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

As the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting a diversified family office overseeing operating businesses, private equity investments, public equities, and real estate assets. You'll work closely with the principal to build a sophisticated strategic finance capability across the portfolio, providing the forecasting, financial modelling, investment analysis, and quantitative decision support needed to make informed capital allocation decisions.

This role is ideal for a senior finance leader who combines deep FP&A and financial modelling expertise with strong commercial judgment and an investment-oriented mindset. Rather than functioning as a traditional Controller or reporting-focused CFO, you'll act as the principal's senior financial thought partner—building the family's forward-looking finance capability, evaluating investment opportunities, challenging assumptions, identifying risks, and proactively uncovering opportunities to grow and optimize the portfolio.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

Accountability

FP&A, Forecasting & Strategic Planning

  • Build and lead the FP&A function across the family office.
  • Develop integrated forecasts and financial projections across EGE Holdings and its underlying businesses.
  • Build scenario models around operating companies, investments, and portfolio decisions.
  • Establish forward-looking financial planning processes across a previously consolidation-focused finance function.
  • Develop sensitivity analyses to assess potential outcomes under different operating, market, and investment assumptions.
  • Translate forecasts and financial projections into clear recommendations for the principal.
  • Improve visibility into future liquidity, capital requirements, returns, and financial risks.

Investment Analysis & Capital Allocation

  • Serve as the quantitative lead supporting capital allocation decisions across the family office.
  • Evaluate prospective private equity, public market, real estate, and operating-company investments.
  • Build investment, valuation, and return models to assess opportunities and downside scenarios.
  • Perform quantitative risk analysis across existing and prospective investments.
  • Assess trade-offs between competing uses of capital.
  • Develop consistent analytical frameworks for evaluating investment opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio returns and deploy capital more effectively.
  • Provide objective financial analysis to support significant investment decisions.

Portfolio Risk Analysis

  • Develop a holistic view of financial risk across the family office portfolio.
  • Assess concentration, liquidity, leverage, and investment risks.
  • Model downside and stress scenarios across different asset classes and operating businesses.
  • Evaluate prospective investments in the context of existing portfolio exposure.
  • Identify emerging financial risks and recommend appropriate responses.
  • Provide the principal with clear quantitative insight into risk/reward trade-offs.

Strategic Finance & Decision Support

  • Act as the principal's senior financial thought partner on complex business and investment decisions.
  • Provide quantitative analysis for strategic questions across EGE and its underlying operating companies.
  • Translate financial information into commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide an independent financial perspective.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, capital efficiency, and portfolio performance.
  • Proactively bring financial insights and opportunities to the principal rather than waiting for requests.
  • Support strategic decisions across new ventures, operating businesses, and investment activities.

Consolidated Financial Management

  • Own consolidated financial reporting across EGE Holdings and its underlying entities.
  • Ensure the principal has clear visibility into financial performance across the ownership structure.
  • Oversee entity-level financial reporting and consolidation.
  • Coordinate multi-entity tax requirements with external tax advisors.
  • Establish financial reporting standards that provide decision-useful insight beyond statutory and tax requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls and reporting standards across the portfolio.

Finance Leadership & Controller Management

  • Lead and develop controllers and finance leaders embedded within EGE's operating companies.
  • Establish consistent standards and expectations across entity-level finance functions.
  • Review the quality and usefulness of financial reporting produced across the portfolio.
  • Coach controllers toward stronger analytical and commercially focused finance capabilities.
  • Create greater connectivity between operating-company finance and family-office decision-making.
  • Build a scalable finance organization as EGE's portfolio grows.
  • Identify gaps in finance capabilities and determine where additional resources are required.

External Advisor & Financial Partner Management

  • Partner effectively with private banks, wealth advisors, tax professionals, legal counsel, and other external financial stakeholders.
  • Review and challenge external financial analysis where appropriate.
  • Determine which analytical capabilities should be developed and maintained internally.
  • Reduce unnecessary dependence on external advisors by strengthening internal financial capabilities.
  • Maintain productive external relationships while retaining internal ownership of financial analysis and decision-making.

AI-Enabled Finance

  • Use AI tools to accelerate financial analysis, research, modelling, reporting, and decision support.
  • Leverage Claude and other advanced AI tools within day-to-day finance workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to automate or improve recurring financial analysis and reporting.
  • Apply appropriate financial judgment and validation to AI-assisted outputs.
  • Help establish efficient, AI-enabled workflows across the broader finance organization.

Colleagues

You'll work closely with the principal, controllers and finance leaders across EGE's operating companies, private banks, wealth advisors, tax professionals, legal counsel, and other external financial partners. As the senior financial owner of the family office, you'll connect portfolio-level financial information with strategic decision-making and ensure the principal has the insight needed to allocate capital effectively.

At Oceans Talent, you'll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you're continuously growing and developing in your career.
