Character Animator - WFS

Summary/objective:

The Wingfeather Saga Animated Series at Angel Studios is looking for a CG Character Animator who is passionate, collaborative, and able to create high-quality character animation. This person will work with a variety of CG assets within Unreal Engine.

The CG Character Animator will work with rigged characters and props to advance assigned shots through animation and will report directly to the Animation Director.

Essential functions

• Character Animation
• Create impactful & compelling performances
• Match the show animation style
• React and accommodate notes and revisions
• Deliver footage quantity at or exceeding scheduled quota
• All other responsibilities assigned by Animation Director and Animation Coordinator
• Must attend and contribute to regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in the English language required.  Additional language proficiency is a plus.

• Demonstrated proficiency with the principles of animation, including timing and the dynamics of animals and human figures in action
• Ability to present work and communicate openly with artistic and studio leadership
• On-the-fly problem-solving ability with fellow animators
• Where applicable contribute to rig testing and character movement exploration
• Strong knowledge of each of the following technical areas:
  • Animation principles
  • Knowledge of kinematics and physical behaviors
  • File management systems
• An exceptional listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace.
• Detail-oriented perspective and able to pick up on overlooked details.
• Organization and time management. 
• Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Must be able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions.
• Resourceful and able to problem-solve and manage tasks with ambiguity. 
• Willing to perform an array of tasks both in and out of the office.
• Can take feedback to tasks and assignments positively and create better solutions.
• A quick study, able to pick up new skills and learn how to use new programs.
• Must participate in setting and achieving regularly scheduled and outlined objectives.

Work environment - When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.

Physical demands - Ability to sit at desk and use computer for prolonged periods of time

Position type and expected hours of work - Regular full-time, 40 hours per week.

Preferred education and experience

• Self-starter
• Animation production experience, particularly with animated TV series
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Tennessee resident a plus. Role is remote.

Work authorization - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
