US Commercial, Market Access – Remote

Pharvaris is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel, oral bradykinin B2 receptor antagonists to potentially address all types of bradykinin-mediated angioedema. The Pharvaris team is advancing new alternatives to injected therapies for the prevention and treatment of hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks, and other bradykinin B2-receptor-mediated indications. HAE is a rare and potentially life-threatening genetic disease and people living with HAE can suffer sudden and prolonged attacks of swelling in multiple areas of the body, including the airway, which can be life-threatening.

We are excited to be building our commercial business infrastructure to prepare for our first commercial launch.  We are actively recruiting for the Patient Services Team, and we are looking for dynamic and experienced Care Specialists to join our team and report to the Lead, Care Specialists. 

The Care Specialist will exercise independent judgment and sound business discretion in administering complex patient-access operations for an assigned geography. This role assesses patient, provider, payer, and reimbursement needs; determines appropriate access-support strategies, case actions, and escalation pathways for complex or non-routine matters; interprets and applies patient-services policies and payer requirements; and serves as a knowledgeable resource for patients, healthcare providers, partners, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders seeking access to Pharvaris products. The role also provides case-management oversight for an assigned caseload while identifying risks, trends, barriers, and opportunities for process improvement that may require escalation, management recommendation, or broader patient-support program improvements impacting launch readiness and ongoing program effectiveness.

Location:

Pharvaris has offices in Switzerland (Zug), the Netherlands (Leiden) and the U.S. (greater Boston area) and, at Pharvaris, we promote and enable a flexible, hybrid work-environment and support our talent to be home based and work virtually. Whilst this is a remote role, you must be located in the US with a preference to the geography you cover or East Coast /Boston area.

Responsibilities:

• Independently assess patient and caregiver access needs and determine appropriate support strategies to facilitate timely access to therapy
• Exercise discretion in overseeing and prioritizing assigned caseload activities, identifying access barriers, determining next steps, and advancing cases through required access processes
• Interpret patient-services policies and payer requirements to guide complex benefits investigations, prior authorization and appeal support, and stakeholder communications
• Maintain case documentation for the assigned geography and use case insights to identify reimbursement trends, access risks, and opportunities for process improvement
• Oversee resolution of complex patient-access matters, evaluate reimbursement pathways, and determine appropriate escalation or resolution strategies within delegated authority
• Serve as an internal reimbursement subject matter expert by guiding cross-functional partners on payer requirements, access barriers, and strategic case considerations
• Provide ongoing adherence and compliance support to patients in alignment with program requirements and approved processes
• Contribute insights and recommendations in patient services and commercial strategy meetings based on reimbursement trends, case escalations, and program performance
• Lead special projects and recommend operational improvements that enhance patient-support program efficiency, compliance, scalability, and launch readiness
• Serve as a compliance role model for the commercial organization and broader Pharvaris community by identifying compliance concerns and recommending appropriate improvements
• Conduct all activities with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including the U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, U.S. anti-kickback laws, and the PhRMA Code

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience in rare disease patient support services, access and reimbursement, or related biotech/pharmaceutical roles involving independent decision-making may be considered
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive case management experience required, including responsibility for evaluating complex patient-access matters, determining appropriate resolution pathways, and managing non-routine reimbursement issues; rare disease experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience supporting patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers in a call center, customer service, or patient support environment requiring professional judgment, prioritization, and effective issue resolution
• Advanced experience supporting pharmacy and medical benefit investigations, prior authorizations, appeals, reimbursement processes, and case escalations requiring analysis of payer requirements and application of program guidelines
• Strong understanding of commercial and government payer requirements, coverage policies, access pathways, and the ability to interpret and apply those requirements to complex patient-access situations
• Ability to identify reimbursement trends, assess access risks, recommend process improvements, and communicate strategic insights to internal stakeholders and management
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, exercise discretion with sensitive patient and reimbursement information, and manage priorities across an assigned geography
• Ability to travel up to 10% as business needs require

Pharvaris is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this role is $110,000-$150,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including but not limited to depth of experience, skill set, overall performance, and education.
