The CMRAO’s Discipline Committee was created in accordance with O.Reg 3/18: Code of Ethics and Discipline and Appeals Committees and consists of a roster of individuals representing the condominium management sector and the consumers. The members of the Committees are appointed by the Board of Directors of the CMRAO.

 

Candidates for the part-time Chair require a lawyer, in good standing with the Ontario Law Society. Candidates for part-time members may be condominium managers, principal condominium managers, owners or directors of condominium management provider businesses, and members of the public.

 

Purpose of the Committee

The Discipline Committee is responsible for hearing and determining discipline cases concerning failure to comply with the Code of Ethics (O.Reg 3/18).

 

The Appeals Committee is responsible for hearing and determining licensee appeals of discipline decisions.

 

The Chair and Members of the Committees are expected to:

  • be available to attend hearings when called upon, with ample notice usually provided; and
  • support adjudicative excellence by participating in training and professional development activities as needed.


Compensation

The Chair and Members of the Committees will be appointed on a part-time basis and paid for the time spent on Committees’ work in accordance with the CMRAO’s Remuneration Policy for Chair / Members of the Committees. The policy will be shared with the shortlisted candidates.

  • Please submit a letter of intent detailing your experience and motivation for wanting to serve as the 1) Chair – Discipline Committee (part-time) OR

2) Member – The Discipline and the Appeals Committees (part-time) and include the names and contact information of two references that the CMRAO may contact in the event that your application is shortlisted by the Board.

  • Candidates shortlisted to serve on the Committee will have to provide a Criminal Record Check (Clearance Letter).
