As a  Business Development Representative you will work out of one’s home and be responsible for working with distribution partners and their field sales teams to promote and close business for our clients within the assigned territory.


We are seeking a candidate who has sales savvy and is comfortable working with other salespersons to find customer solutions and satisfy end-user needs.


The Business Development Representative’s primary goal is to drive financial growth within the assigned territory by adding value to any and all relationships they develop. Key “value-add” proficiencies can be best summarized below:

As needed, Business Development Representatives are also be expected to support various Vendor Partner needs such as monthly conference calls, national trade show attendance, national trade show lead follow-up, etc…


Job Duties, Responsibilities, Goals and Objectives – Year 1

Duties Include:

  • Key Markets: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Kentucky
  • Email and Phone Assigned Grainger Distributor Sales Districts to build relationships with District Sales Managers (DSMs) and District Sales Assistants (DSAs) and to get scheduled for an introductory District Conference Calls or on-site Meetings 
  • Develop strong relationships with Commercial, Manufacturing, and Government DSM’s and Sales teams in the assigned territory.
  • Participate in Sales Meetings, Lunch and Learns, Branch open Houses, Customer on Site events where appropriate to build relationship and grow business.
  • Once Conference calls have occurred, follow-up and qualify high potential (>$5,000) accounts for customer opportunities to develop sales pipeline in Salesforce
  • Manage Sales Activities in Salesforce and coordinate efforts (samples, ROI calculators, proposals, webinars, or face to face selling efforts) to close these pipeline opportunities
  • Develop National Accounts Relationships where Suppliers can be specified Nationally, and we can coordinate and implementation plan to create pull through business across multiple sites
  • As placement for suppliers occurs with other distributors (Fastenal, MSC, and HD Supply), a BDM will manage the same engagement process with their sales teams.
