Smithers is looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to drive growth across our Medical and Pharmaceutical Testing Services division. This is a unique opportunity to join a globally recognised brand with a 100+ year history of delivering trusted, science-based solutions for some of the world’s most innovative companies.

In this high-impact role, you’ll play a pivotal part in expanding our presence across Europe – winning new business, owning key client relationships, and bringing in commercial wins across our medical device and pharmaceutical testing portfolios. You’ll be joining a small, collaborative commercial team with the backing of world-class scientists and subject matter experts, and the freedom to truly make your mark.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading business development efforts across Europe for Smithers MDT services

  • Targeting and winning new clients in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and life sciences sectors

  • Building and executing strategic account plans to secure long-term partnerships and maximise share of spend

  • Developing a high-value, data-driven sales pipeline using our CRM and forecasting tools

  • Supporting marketing campaigns and representing Smithers at industry events and client meetings

  • Acting as the commercial face of Smithers MDT – both externally with clients and internally across our global teams

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years’ experience in technical B2B sales, business development, or consulting

  • A proven track record of winning and growing business in life sciences, medical device or pharma sectors

  • Experience with outsourced services, testing, or regulatory consultancy is a strong advantage

  • Strong commercial instincts, excellent communication skills, and a natural ability to build trust with stakeholders

  • Comfortable with regular international travel, both independently and as part of a global team

  • A bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred)
