The Role


As our Business Administrator, you will act as the "essential pivot point" of the organization. You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating our daily operations. Your work will focus on long-term planning, administrative governance, and oversight of Operations, HR, and Business Development. 


Requirements

The Business Administrator serves as the organization’s essential pivot point, responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating high-level operations that drive organizational success. This role is tasked with enhancing both staff and client capacity through targeted training and technical assistance, while leveraging data-driven insights to optimize supply and demand metrics. By championing a diversity-led, industry-sector-focused business and workforce development system, the Business Administrator ensures the organization remains efficient, productive, and profitable. Through effective strategic project management and the cultivation of vital community partnerships, this position translates leadership vision into sustainable economic inclusion and impactful workforce solutions. 

  • Operational Responsibilities
  • Direct and execute the CEO’s vision, strategic plans, and organizational business goals.

  • Manage day-to-day operational processes, including contract management, business development, and organizational performance metrics.

  • Oversee budget management consistent with business forecasts and human resources plans.

  • Ensure all required reports are submitted promptly by managing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards and databases.

  • Identify, assess, and execute "best practices" regionally and nationally to ensure DCS remains efficient and competitive.

  • Community Engagement and Programming Responsibilities
  • Create, manage, and measure supplier diversity business and workforce development initiatives.

  • Convene, develop, and manage highly collaborative relationships to promote business competitiveness and secure viable contracts.

  • Represent DCS in public forums, making presentations and communicating with the community on issues as directed.

  • Collaborate with regional partners to identify and develop regional business and workforce development policies.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level leadership that fosters a culture of inclusion, staff development, and team building.

  • Organize and deliver results that foster alignment with identified events, capacity-building strategies, and project needs.

  • Coordinate across departments to ensure the implementation of a diversity-led, industry-sector-focused business and workforce development system.

  • General Requirements
  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Comfortable with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, HR, Marketing, Education) preferred; Advanced degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business and workforce development.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives requiring management principles and fiscal oversight.

  • Proven experience in strategic planning, implementation, and partnership development.

  • Strong public relations skills and political acumen; ability to synthesize diverse interests into a coherent agenda.

  • Flexibility to travel domestically and work evenings/weekends as necessary.

  • Skilled in technology (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to work with diverse populations in a collaborative team environment.
