The BI Developer will own the end-to-end business intelligence lifecycle, managing data movement from Microsoft Fabric into high-performing Power BI semantic models and dashboards. They will also ensure data security, maintain workspace governance, and collaborate with analysts to establish a single source of truth.

The Data & Analytics team in our National Support Center (NSC) is looking for a BI Developer. This is a remote position. Applicants may be based anywhere within the United States.
Are you skilled at building semantic models and translating complex data into reports people trust? Do you know how to manage permissions and access across a growing library of dashboards? Are you detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable owning a build from data model through finished report? If so, then we’d like you to join our dedicated team as a BI Developer.
About the Role:
As a BI Developer, you will own the end-to-end business intelligence lifecycle, optimizing how data moves from our Microsoft Fabric environment into high-performing Power BI semantic models and dashboards. You will work closely with Analysts to establish a "single source of truth," manage workspace governance, and ensure data security across the organization.
You will:
Build and maintain scalable semantic models, calculated tables, and transformations on top of our Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, and Warehouses), based on specifications from our team of Analysts.
Build advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and complex calculation logic for high-priority or high-complexity reports.
Optimize model performance, including query speed, refresh times dataset size, and leveraging Fabric’s Direct Lake mode where applicable.
Define and maintain row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS) across semantic models and datasets.
Enforce naming conventions, visual layout standards, and folder/workspace structure standards.
Handle report refresh issues, manage semantic model health, and perform routine production troubleshooting.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as requested.
About You:
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
Our ideal candidate will also:
Possess strong SQL skills, with direct experience querying cloud data platforms, lakehouses, or data warehouses.
Have a proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and refresh failures in production BI environments.
Additional Nice-to-Haves / Growth Opportunities include:
Experience with Power BI Project files (PBIP) and Git-based version control workflows.
Web Integration & Application Scripting (Growth & Adaptability): Possess a basic understanding of, or a strong interest in learning, how to connect front-end and back-end web applications (such as React, .NET and Node.js) with the Power BI REST API. Over time, you will learn to manage and support scripts that query data and apply dynamic filtering from the BI environment. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a data professional looking to expand their full-stack and API integration skills.
Able to prioritize work and multi-task across concurrent report builds and enhancement requests.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
