Overview

AZURE SPECIALIST 

Location: India remote

ROLE OVERVIEW: 

Morgan IT is transforming towards a cloud-first, automation-driven operating model built on Microsoft Azure, platform engineering principles and AI-enabled operations. 

The Azure Specialist is responsible for delivering, operating and continuously improving Azure platform services through modern engineering practices. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, cloud operations, AI-enabled service improvements and platform reliability. 

Working closely with the Cloud Solution Architect, the Azure Specialist translates technical designs into operationally supported services while driving standardisation, automation and innovation across the cloud platform estate. 

The role combines hands-on engineering expertise with a passion for automation, operational excellence and emerging technologies. 

Responsibilities

KEY REPONSIBILITIES: 

Azure Operations & Support 

• Provide second and third line support for Azure platform services, ensuring incidents, requests and problems are resolved effectively and within agreed service levels. 

• Monitor platform health, performance, security and operational stability across Azure services. 

• Participate in major incident, problem and change management activities. 

• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues. 

• Support operational readiness, service maintenance and lifecycle management activities. 

• Collaborate with vendors and support partners where required to resolve complex technical issues 

Azure Platform Engineering 

• Deploy, manage and optimise Azure infrastructure and platform services. 

• Support Azure Networking, Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Storage, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Arc, Azure Backup, Update Manager and monitoring capabilities. 

• Ensure Azure environments remain secure, resilient, cost-effective and aligned to platform standards. 

• Support cloud transformation and platform modernisation initiatives. 

Automation & Infrastructure as Code 

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM Templates and Azure-native tooling. 

• Create automation solutions using PowerShell, Python and Azure automation services. 

• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for cloud platform deployments. 

• Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and self-service capabilities. 

• Promote platform standardisation through reusable templates and automation frameworks. 

Project Delivery & Solution Realisation 

• Support delivery of projects and technical changes designed by the Solution Architect. 

• Translate technical requirements into deployable and supportable solutions. 

• Contribute to testing, implementation and service transition activities. 

• Work with business stakeholders to ensure delivered solutions meet operational and business requirements. 

• Support project documentation, technical designs and knowledge transfer activities. 

Continuous Improvement & Innovation 

• Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reliability, security and user experience. 

• Contribute to innovation initiatives involving cloud services, automation, AI capabilities and modern engineering practices. 

• Support the operationalisation of new technologies and services introduced by the Cloud Architecture team. 

• Drive improvements in monitoring, reporting, documentation and operational processes. 

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration 

• Build effective relationships with users, project teams, architects, suppliers and other technology teams. 

• Participate in technical workshops, planning sessions and Agile delivery activities. 

• Clearly communicate technical issues, risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and knowledge sharing.  

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• Significant experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Azure Administration, Platform Engineering or related technology disciplines. 

• Microsoft Azure certifications (Administrator, Azure Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer or equivalent) are desirable but not essential. 

• ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management experience desirable. 

• Equivalent combinations of practical experience, professional certifications and technical expertise will be considered. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English. 

Experience: 

• 4+ years of experience in IT support or a related role, with a focus on their specific domain. 

• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience within their domain. 

• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to their domain. 

Competencies: 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure services including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings 

• Strong working knowledge of: 

• Microsoft Entra ID 

• Azure Automation (Runbooks, Functions, Logic Apps) 

• Azure Arc 

• Azure Backup & Recovery 

• Azure Update Manager 

• Azure Monitor and Log Analytics 

• Microsoft Sentinel 

• Azure Networking Services and Connectivity Solutions.  

• Expertise in Azure security principles, governance controls and compliance best practices. 

• Strong understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, load balancers and hybrid cloud connectivity. 

• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python and other automation and scripting technologies. 

• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management and cloud automation frameworks.  

• Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, source control and release management.  

• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Strong customer focus with the ability to provide high-quality support and service to end users and stakeholders. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities across operational support, project delivery and continuous improvement activities. 

• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational and business teams.
