AU Financial Accountant | 6 Months Contract (Work from Home)

Position Overview

The Financial Accountant will support the Finance function across month-end accounting, statutory reporting, payroll support, and general finance activities. This role is responsible for managing allocated balance sheet accounts and month-end processes, supporting the integrity of the general ledger, and assisting with reporting, audits, payroll, and other finance-related requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end accounting activities, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Take ownership of allocated asset and liability accounts, including bank and cash, prepayments, fixed assets, creditors, and accruals.
• Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, identifying and resolving any variances promptly.
• Prepare expense analysis and support management reporting requirements.
• Support the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the general ledger.
• Assist with quarterly, half-year, and year-end reporting requirements, including support for NASDAQ and ASIC listed reporting obligations and external audits.
• Provide payroll support across both Australian and US operations, including full payroll processing during periods of leave coverage.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of finance activities and reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, ad hoc financial analysis, and finance-related projects.
• Provide general support across the Finance team as required.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting qualification (or currently working towards completion).
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Exposure to NetSuite and/or Power BI will be highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
