AI Summary

The Associate will design and implement market-shaping interventions to improve access to novel TB vaccines in low- and middle-income countries. They will lead quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide actionable recommendations and build relationships with global health partners.

Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.

CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

At CHAI, our people are our greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication, and passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic individuals across 40 countries with a broad range of skill sets and life experiences. CHAI is deeply grounded in the countries we work in, with the majority of our staff based in program countries. Learn more about our exciting work: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org

CHAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and is committed to providing an environment of fairness, and mutual respect where all applicants have access to equal employment opportunities. CHAI values diversity and inclusion, and recognizes that our mission is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of people with diverse experience, backgrounds, and culture.

Vaccines Program Overview

To ensure people in low- and middle-income countries have access to effective and affordable immunization, CHAI’s Vaccines Markets Team works with vaccine manufacturers, Gavi, WHO and other global stakeholders to improve availability, affordability, and supply security for existing and future vaccines. In doing this, CHAI is applying the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment: improving market demand transparency for suppliers, partners, donors and financiers, and working closely with individual suppliers to optimize their commercial, costing and pricing strategies in low- and middle-income markets.

One area of focus for CHAI’s Vaccines Markets Team is novel TB vaccines targeting adolescents and adults, with several candidates currently in late-stage clinical development. As clinical development progresses, CHAI is working to ensure the market is ready for introduction: supporting manufacturers to prepare for scalable, affordable supply, supporting global efforts to secure financing and equitable access for countries, and working closely with various high-burden countries on operational readiness for vaccine introduction.

Position Overview

CHAI is seeking an Associate to support its work on financing and access for novel TB vaccines. As part of the Vaccines Markets Team, the Associate will help assess and design market-shaping interventions that enable timely, affordable and sustainable access to TB vaccines in high-burden low- and middle-income countries. In this capacity, the Associate will work closely with global partners, including Gavi and WHO, as well as CHAI country teams, to turn evidence on demand, supply, and country needs into practical solutions that advance financing and equitable access to novel TB vaccines.

This role combines quantitative analysis, structured problem-solving and stakeholder engagement and will report to the Senior Program Manager, TB Vaccines. This role can also be offered at a Manager level, commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Support CHAI’s work on financing and access for novel TB vaccines in low- and middle-income countries, helping develop high-impact market-shaping interventions that address potential barriers to access.
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative analyses (e.g., demand forecasting, financing needs assessment) that provide the basis for decision-relevant insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Synthesize complex evidence into clear, compelling presentations, briefs, and reports that inform global policy and partner decisions.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with global health partners, financiers and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with colleagues across CHAI’s global vaccines and TB teams and country offices, linking financing and access work with ongoing country readiness efforts.
  • Contribute to donor reporting and to CHAI’s knowledge sharing efforts.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as requested supporting program and organizational priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in public health, economics, business, finance, or a related field with strong academic performance
  • Minimum 3 years (Associate) or 5 years (Senior Associate) of professional experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment (e.g., management consulting, private equity, health financing)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to frame complex problems, conduct, and guide quantitative and qualitative analyses, synthesize findings, and develop clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-performance, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with individuals of varying levels of seniority.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a multicultural and remote environment.
  • High proficiency in MS PowerPoint Excel, Word, and the ability to use AI tools effectively and responsibly to enhance the quality and efficiency of analytical work.
  • Available for up to 20% travel.

Advantages

  • Advanced degree in economics, finance, public health or a related field
  • Experience in health financing, development finance or vaccine markets
  • Knowledge of global health partners (e.g., Gavi, Global Fund, WHO)
  • Experience working in low-resource settings
