The Transportation Operations Representative is responsible for executing daily operational tasks related to shipment management, customer and carrier communication, and system data accuracy. With a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, this role supports end‑to‑end transportation processes while adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Day To Day: Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute daily transportation-related operational tasks in accordance with company policies and SOPs.
- Create, activate, and manage transportation orders and shipments.
- Build and assign loads within transportation management systems.
- Schedule pickup and delivery appointments with carriers and customers.
- Track and trace shipments to ensure on-time performance and issue resolution.
- Provide shipment updates and transportation information to customers and carriers.
- Monitor and respond to assigned email inboxes and task boards throughout the shift.
- Document shipment events and update transportation systems accurately.
- Complete invoicing functions and validate shipment/load data for accuracy.
- Follow escalation procedures for service issues, delays, or complex requests.
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams, carriers, and customers to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Customer interactions and carrier interactions
*Prioritize and multitask within a fast-paced operational environment supporting a high volume of customers*
- Utilize customer-specific SOPs and workflows to support transportation operations effectively.
- Collaborate with leadership and team members during overnight operations, with leadership support always available on shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Previous customer service experience.
Ability to work evenings and/or weekends (for select roles).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Prior customer service experience in a call center or similar environment.
Demonstrated communication, prioritization, and time management skills.
Prior experience working in a role requiring high attention to detail.
Commitment to and appreciation for a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Work Environment & Expectations
Fast‑paced, detail‑oriented operational setting.
Frequent interaction with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
Adherence to defined processes, escalation procedures, and quality standards.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Eden Prairie, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
