We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Director to lead the RTX Enterprise Quality Audit team. In this role, you will be accountable for directing a team of Enterprise Quality Auditors to ensure conformance with established quality management system requirements.   You will also create/foster partnerships with our Business Units and the independent certification bodies that support our compliance efforts.  Your leadership will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement, sustaining robust quality governance, and ensuring the delivery of high‑reliability products that uphold RTX’s commitment to operational excellence and customer assurance.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership:

  • Deploy organization strategic direction and goals.

  • Engage in the Quality Management System Optimization Initiatives.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with functional and business leaders to promote a transformative quality organization aligned with business objectives.

  • Ability to communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the organization.

  • Develop and implement functional processes and procedures that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.

  • Direct the development and implementation of compliance-related improvement projects and processes.

  • Support the Business Units Advance Surveillance Recertification Procedure (ASRP) initiatives (office audits, witness audits, central function management review initiatives).

  • Review and disposition Audit Finding(s) Appeals request.

  • Assist Business Unit with RTX Certification bodies site surveillance and recertification audits, including facilitating audit schedules, logistics, and closure of corrective actions.

Data-Driven Insights:

  • Establish/update/provide guidance for deployment of organization metrics.

  • Analyze audit performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous Improvement.

  • Recommend and drive enterprise level improvement initiatives by leveraging CORE methodologies or actively participating in CORE initiatives.

  • Present to leadership with audit data analytics and provide recommended actions.

Talent Development:

  • Develop and mentor team members, establishing a strong talent pipeline to support current and future business needs.

Special Audits and Assessments:

  • As required, support special audits (e.g., suspensions, major customer complaints, high risk sites, etc.), independent assessments, and site certifications as required by RTX business units.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires up to 70% travel, both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of Quality Audit programs and industry regulations.

  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS91XX standards.

  • AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification.

  • Ability to obtain Aerospace Auditor (AA) or Aerospace Experienced Auditor (AEA) certification within one year.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Certification as an Aerospace Auditor (AA) or Aerospace Experienced Auditor (AEA).

  • Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and Regulatory (FAA/EASA/CAA) experience.

  • CORE Champion certification.

  • Experience in working with QMS Certified Bodies (3rd Party) and the Advance Surveillance Reduction Procedure (ASRP).

  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or CORE Certification.

  • Strong/excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Proficiency in audit management tools, data analytics, and reporting systems.

  • Experience with leading cross-functional teams and managing multi-site audit processes.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills at all level within the organization.

  • Working knowledge of Corrective Actions processes/systems.

  • Proficiency in presenting audit results and concepts to key stakeholders and executive leadership.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
