Assistant Editor

Role Overview

This is a great entry-level role for someone interested in editorial work, healthcare communications, or project coordination. The assistant editor will help keep projects organized and moving forward while gaining hands-on experience in editing, communication, organization, and project management.

Key Responsibilities & Management

•    Helping coordinate assignments for freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers
•    Tracking deadlines and following up on outstanding work
•    Entering and updating project information in Jira
•    Making sure articles are in the correct workflow stage and continuing to move through the editorial pipeline
•    Reaching out to physicians by email or LinkedIn about medical review opportunities
•    Lightly editing pages after medical review and completing a final check before copy editing
•    Building and formatting pages in WordPress
•    Updating project trackers and organizing files in Google Sheets, Drive, and Docs
•    Helping organize payment information, release forms, and other contributor paperwork
•    Assisting with other editorial and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with different contributors. Experience with Google Workspace is preferred. Familiarity with Jira or WordPress would be helpful but is not required, as training can be provided.
