AI Engineer (Typescript)

Kindgeek is looking for an AI Engineer (TypeScript) who takes an ambiguous business problem and carries it all the way to production, without waiting for a complete specification. Your mission will be to build features for an AI-native fintech product where deterministic logic owns every number and AI and ML components suggest, extract, and flag, but never decide. You'll work on one product deeply, as part of a small, senior team, with real ownership from day one.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As an AI Engineer (TypeScript) you will be responsible for:

• Experience in designing multi-agent system architectures;
• Owning features end to end, from an ambiguous business problem through data model, API, workflow, and UI;
• Building typed backend services in Node.js and TypeScript, with relational data modeled in PostgreSQL;
• Designing asynchronous, event-driven workflows that handle retries, partial failure, and unreliable third-party services;
• Building or consuming AI-powered features, such as structured extraction, tool use, or drafting, always with validation and clear boundaries against deterministic logic;
• Integrating machine learning predictions into product surfaces, handling confidence, timeouts, and degraded responses without fabricating a value;
• Building interfaces people work in all day, such as review queues, forms, and multi-step flows, in React and Next.js;
• Writing meaningful tests and working with observability tools so behavior in production is something the team can verify, not assume.

REQUIREMENTS
We're looking for an AI Engineer (TypeScript) who has:

• 5+ years of production experience with Node.js and TypeScript across the stack;
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design and migrations;
• Experience with typed API contracts, such as tRPC, GraphQL, or an equivalent, with runtime validation at the boundary;
• Experience with asynchronous or event-driven backend work, such as job queues or workflow engines;
• Production experience with React, including a modern framework such as Next.js;
• Practical experience with at least one shipped LLM-powered feature and a concrete failure mode you contained;
• Comfort consuming ML predictions in application code, with a real understanding of confidence and uncertainty;
• Experience writing meaningful tests and debugging issues in production;
• Comfort taking an ambiguous problem and making a decision under incomplete information;
• Strong spoken English and direct, low-ego communication with a US-based client team.

Will be a plus:

• Experience with agentic frameworks, RAG systems, or LLM evaluation and tracing tools;
• Experience with document processing, such as OCR, PDF parsing, or structured extraction;
• Experience with AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, SSO or SAML, or prior work in a regulated or high-trust domain.
