Young Americans for Liberty is looking for Activism Associates who are ready to take the next step as leaders in the liberty movement.

This is a paid, part-time opportunity for those who have demonstrated leadership on campus and want to continue developing their organizing, advocacy, and operational skills. You'll work alongside YAL's Activism Department to help recruit activists, support our efforts on colleges across the country, strengthen campus infrastructure, and keep the movement growing.

About the role

The Activism Associate Program is designed to develop high-performing campus leaders through a part-time, temporary position within YAL's Activism Department.

Associates support the day-to-day execution of activism initiatives while learning how a national grassroots organization recruits activists, mobilizes supporters, and advances legislative priorities. You'll work directly with the Activism team to help move supporters into action, strengthen campus operations, and keep educational campaigns moving.

Exceptional performance may lead to expanded opportunities within the organization. While continued employment is not guaranteed, Associates receive hands-on experience, mentorship, and guidance on pursuing future roles within the liberty movement.

πŸ•’ Schedule: Part-time, 20–30 hours per week, typically on semester-based temporary contracts.

What you'll do

Help turn supporters into activists

  • Contact marketing leads and prospective activists
  • Move supporters through initial activation steps
  • Connect qualified leaders with the appropriate Activism Directors
  • Track outreach and conversion activity

Support educational work on college campuses

  • Assist with Student Rights Campaign operations
  • Support follow-up with activists and campaign participants
  • Help maintain research and campaign resources
  • Ensure communications remain timely and organized

Strengthen campus operations

  • Maintain campus information within the YAL App
  • Verify signups and assist with campus infrastructure
  • Support documentation and operational projects
  • Help keep internal systems organized and current

Help chapters stay active

  • Audit inactive chapters and identify opportunities for re-engagement
  • Communicate with student leaders and encourage follow-through
  • Help identify leadership bottlenecks
  • Support accountability across campus organizations

What Success Looks Like

  • Marketing leads are consistently converted into active participants
  • Student rights campaigns remain organized and responsive
  • Campus systems stay accurate and up to date
  • Inactive chapters are successfully re-engaged
  • Activism operations become more efficient through consistent execution

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position; prior professional experience is not required. Demonstrated leadership within YAL or another student organization, advocacy group, or grassroots movement is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with student leaders and activists
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to identify problems and take initiative
  • Comfortable learning new technology platforms and organizational systems
  • Strongly aligned with Young Americans for Liberty’s mission and principles.

Compensation & Benefits

Position type: Part-time, Hourly, Temporary | FLSA status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $11.00 per hour or the applicable state or local minimum wage, whichever is higher.
