The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, including the monthly close process, general ledger maintenance, and audit preparation. They will also manage accounts payable/receivable, support SEC filings, and provide guidance to accounting staff.
About the role
As our Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operation of Fold's accounting function, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time and that the books are audit-ready every period. You'll execute the monthly accounting close under the Controller's direction, support quarterly SEC filings, and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions.
This is a hands-on role well suited to someone who wants ownership of the details that make a public company's books defensible, and someone who's excited to grow into more as Fold scales.
What you will do
Execute the monthly close process: prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and complete close checklists on schedule.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid and accrued balances, and corporate/customer bitcoin holdings against custodial and on-chain records.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor and contractor payments, invoicing, and cash application.
Support technical accounting areas as directed by the Controller, including stock-based compensation entries, revenue recognition support schedules, and fixed asset/lease accounting.
Prepare supporting schedules and PBC (prepared-by-client) requests for the external audit and quarterly review procedures.
Assist with SOX control execution and documentation for processes owned by the accounting team (close, reconciliations, payroll, AP/AR).
Identify and help implement process improvements to increase the speed and accuracy of the close and reduce manual work.
Train, review, and provide day-to-day guidance to any accounting staff or contractors supporting these functions.

Bachelor's degree or above in Accounting
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger, reconciliation, and close ownership
Direct experience with SEC reporting and public-company close cycles; prior experience at a public company or in an audit role of a public company
