Profile Requirements:
Up to 2 Years of Experience in accounting experience, preferably within real estate development, construction, general contracting, property management, or real estate investment
Strong understanding of real estate and construction accounting
Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks
Experience with Xero is highly preferred
Strong experience with construction job costing and project accounting
Experience tracking construction budgets, actual costs, and project profitability
Knowledge of development costs, contractor payments, vendor management, and construction expenses
Experience with property-level and rental accounting
Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable
Experience completing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Experience preparing Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and cash flow reports
Strong Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills
Understanding of multiple entities and intercompany transactions is highly preferred
Familiarity with construction draws and development financing is preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and financial accuracy
Ability to manage multiple projects, properties, entities, and deadlines simultaneously
Ability to work independently and communicate financial information clearly to leadership
Experience working directly with business owners, project managers, contractors, CPAs, and financial institutions is preferred
Core responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting for real estate development, construction, and property operations
Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks, Xero, and other accounting systems
Manage accounting across multiple construction projects, developments, and properties
Track project costs and maintain accurate job costing for each construction project
Record and categorize labor, materials, subcontractor costs, permits, professional fees, and other development expenses
Track project budgets against actual construction and development costs
Identify cost overruns, discrepancies, and unusual project expenses
Prepare project-level financial and profitability reports
Maintain separate financial reporting by property, project, development, or business entity
Manage accounts payable and ensure vendor and subcontractor invoices are properly coded to the correct project
Review invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy
Coordinate and track payments to contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
Manage accounts receivable and monitor outstanding balances
Create and send invoices when required
Track rental and leasing income across company-owned properties
Record property-related operating expenses, maintenance costs, utilities, taxes, insurance, and other expenses
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other financial accounts monthly
Reconcile transactions between QuickBooks, Xero, bank accounts, and supporting documentation
Maintain an accurate Chart of Accounts appropriate for construction and real estate operations
Assist with setting up new properties, projects, entities, vendors, and accounts within the accounting system
Track construction draws, project funding, deposits, and development expenditures
Assist with construction loan and lender reporting requirements
Maintain records related to property acquisitions, development costs, completed projects, sales, and rental properties
Track deposits, closing-related expenses, and other financial activity associated with property transactions
Maintain accurate fixed asset and capital expenditure records
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and project-level reports
Provide leadership with financial reports showing project costs, budgets, profitability, and cash position
Review financial records for missing transactions, duplicate entries, incorrect classifications, and other discrepancies
Clean up and correct historical bookkeeping and accounting records when necessary
Maintain organized financial documentation including invoices, contracts, receipts, statements, and vendor records
Maintain contractor and vendor information and assist with 1099 preparation
Assist with payroll-related accounting and labor cost allocation when applicable
Coordinate with CPAs, tax professionals, lenders, and other financial professionals
Prepare organized year-end financial records for tax preparation
Maintain strong internal controls and accurate financial processes
Perform additional accounting, real estate, construction, and financial responsibilities as assigned
