ABOUT THE POSITION
As a member of the A+ College Ready team, the AP Math Content Director is responsible for providing statewide leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Advanced Placement curriculum, instruction, and professional learning to support A+ College Ready's initiatives across Alabama. This role manages curriculum development, instructional resources, educator professional learning, school support, and program implementation within the assigned content area. The AP Content Director collaborates with educators, school leaders, state agencies, and organizational partners to ensure high-quality instruction and expand student access to rigorous coursework. This position is pivotal in helping A+ College Ready strengthen teaching and learning, increase student achievement, and support middle and high schools in raising academic achievement for all students and changing the trajectory of education in the state of Alabama.

The ideal candidate is an instructional leader who is collaborative, strategic, highly organized, and committed to continuous improvement. They must possess exceptional communication, facilitation, subject-matter knowledge, and coaching skills and are dedicated to supporting educators, building strong partnerships, and advancing the mission of A+ College Ready. This role requires extensive in-state travel and reports to the Vice President of A+ College Ready. The projected start date is the beginning of the 2027 calendar year.

ABOUT A+ COLLEGE READY
In partnership with the Alabama State Department of Education, A+ College Ready manages grant programs for schools and teachers in Alabama. Each program focuses on high-quality professional learning and support for administrators, teachers, and students. It also provides classroom resources, stipends, and incentives for teachers and students.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the continuous development, review, and revision of curriculum, instructional resources, assessments, and instructional supports aligned to the Alabama Course of Study, College Board expectations, and best instructional practices within the assigned content area.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve Advanced Placement curriculum, instructional resources, assessments, and instructional supports for the assigned content area to ensure alignment with College Board expectations and best instructional practices.
- Plan, recruit, train, support, and collaborate with presenters who lead and facilitate professional learning, ensuring presenters bring relevant classroom expertise and reflect the students, schools, and districts served by A+ College Ready.
- Manage consultants and oversee curriculum development, including the identification and selection of consultants, expectations, timelines, deliverables, quality assurance, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality, rigorous resources aligned with A+ College Ready’s program goals and instructional priorities.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the instructional content for statewide professional learning opportunities, including the AP Summer Intensives, Fall Conferences, Mock Exam Readings, student study sessions, webinars, instructional support, and other organizational events.
- Provide instructional and ongoing support to educators through school visits, virtual meetings, classroom observations, and professional learning.
- Directly support A+ College Ready program schools, including schools participating in the A+ College Ready Grant programs and other organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow A+ Content Directors to develop vertically aligned curriculum, instructional resources, and professional learning that support coherent instruction across grade levels and programs.
- Participate in school recruitment, orientations, site visits, leadership meetings, and other program implementation activities.
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to coordinate logistics, instructional materials, and the successful implementation of statewide training events.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with the Alabama State Department of Education, College Board, higher education institutions, and other educational organizations that support the assigned content area.
- Analyze student achievement, program, and survey data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform curriculum revisions and professional learning.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to curriculum development, professional learning, and school support.
- Travel throughout Alabama and occasionally outside the state to support schools, statewide professional learning, conferences, meetings, and other A+ College Ready initiatives.
- Develop and monitor annual goals and strategic priorities for the assigned content area, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by actively pursuing professional growth, monitoring current research and best practices, and applying new knowledge to enhance curriculum, instruction, professional learning, and program implementation.
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual goals and strategic priorities to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and support the effective delivery of A+ College Ready programs and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic priorities of A+ College Ready.

- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in the assigned content area, secondary education, or a related field is required.
- Successful classroom teaching experience in the assigned content area is required; Advanced Placement teaching experience is required in the Math content area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Advanced Placement curriculum, instructional practices, assessment, and College Board expectations.
- Expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and professional learning.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional practices and adult learning principles.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching, and public speaking skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound instructional decisions.
- Ability to build productive relationships with educators, school leaders, district personnel, and organizational partners.
- Self-starter with strong initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with the use of technology/software to include: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas, and other instructional technology platforms.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently in support of schools, statewide initiatives, conferences, and professional learning events.
- Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning by continuously expanding content expertise, staying informed on current research, instructional practices, educational trends, College Board updates, and innovations within the assigned content area, and applying that knowledge to strengthen curriculum, professional learning, and program support.

*Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
