TITLE:                         Business Intelligence Specialist

REPORTS TO:             Director Business Intelligence

STATUS:                     Salaried

LOCATION:                 Remote

SCHEDULE:                 40 hours/week. On call and possible after hour support required

PAY:                            $75,000 - $85,000/yr

JOB SUMMARY: The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise BI reporting solutions and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes that drive data accuracy, accessibility, and actionable insights. This position partners with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into effective data models, reports, and dashboards that support strategic decision-making across the organization.

The BI Specialist also ensures data integrity and efficiency throughout the data lifecycle, from source integration to reporting delivery, while adhering to best practices and company standards for security, scalability, and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and validate BI and reporting requirements.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications that guide data model and report development.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to transform structured and unstructured data into enterprise data stores, warehouses, or marts.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain BI reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that meet organizational needs.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all reporting environments.
• Transition developed BI solutions to the Operations and Support team for ongoing maintenance.
• Provide technical assistance, documentation, and cross-training to team members and business users.
• Establish, implement, and maintain BI development standards, best practices, and repeatable processes.
• Stay informed on emerging BI tools, methodologies, and data management practices to enhance organizational reporting capabilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of business intelligence, reporting, or analytics experience.
• 2+ years developing SQL- and ETL-based BI solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving business needs.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and continuously improve technical skills.
• Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools and emerging technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Data Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent technical experience in business intelligence.
• Experience developing ETL workflows and BI solutions using tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, or Tableau Cloud.
• Programming or scripting experience (e.g., SQL, Python, R) with an understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the person in this position will be required to frequently communicate information so others will understand. The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time and must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. The person in this position may need to occasionally move about the inside of an office. The person in this position may need to position self to maintain files in a cabinet and place computers under a desk or in a cabinet. This position requires ability to constantly observe typewritten text on a computer screen. The person in this role is required to operate a laptop and use a telephone regularly. The person in this position may be required to travel throughout the USA by automobile or airplane which may require overnight lodging.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the person in this role may be in a stationary position in an office setting and may be exposed to quiet to moderate noise level.
