Serve as the primary clinical-technical liaison to ensure women's health requirements are accurately implemented within VA health IT systems. Translate complex clinical workflows into technical specifications and support quality improvement initiatives through data-driven informatics tools.

Job Summary

As a Health IT Informatics Analyst II supporting the Women Veterans Quality Improvement Project (WV-QIP) Phase II, you will serve as the critical clinical liaison between business owners and development teams, ensuring that women's health care needs are accurately represented throughout health IT system development and deployment. This role operates within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) federal healthcare ecosystem, collaborating with Evidence-Based Quality Improvement (EBQI) sites and a broad network of stakeholders to advance high-quality, data-driven care for women Veterans. Your work will directly influence the design, implementation, and optimization of VA health information technology solutions that impact one of the fastest-growing populations within the VA healthcare system.

The ideal candidate is a clinically trained physician with deep expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, or women's health who is equally fluent in health informatics — someone who bridges the language of clinical care and technology with confidence, precision, and a collaborative mindset. You thrive in complex, multi-stakeholder federal environments and are passionate about leveraging health IT to drive measurable improvements in women's health outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary health informatics liaison among business owners, software developers, EBQI sites, and VA stakeholders to ensure women's health care requirements are accurately captured and implemented within health IT systems.
  • Apply clinical expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, and women's health to inform the design, development, and deployment of VA health information technology solutions, translating complex clinical workflows into actionable technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with VA IT teams and program offices to analyze, validate, and improve clinical data quality, reporting structures, and electronic health record (EHR) functionalities relevant to women Veterans' care.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives by leveraging health informatics tools and methodologies to identify gaps, monitor performance metrics, and recommend evidence-based enhancements to women's health care delivery across VA facilities.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, working groups, and technical review sessions, providing subject matter expertise on both clinical women's health standards and VA health IT systems to guide project decision-making.
  • Develop and contribute to technical documentation, use cases, user stories, and training materials that support the adoption and optimization of health IT tools by clinical end-users at EBQI and VA sites nationwide.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in health informatics and 10+ years of clinical experience in obstetrics/gynecology, women's health, or a closely related area.
  • MD or DO degree required; supplemented by a formal Informatics Certification or an advanced degree in Biomedical/Health Informatics or a related informatics discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working with VA health IT systems (e.g., VistA, Cerner/Oracle Health, CPRS, CDW) and familiarity with VA clinical operations, workflows, and federal healthcare program structures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and pass a VA background investigation; existing VA system access eligibility is strongly preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to support federal government contracts without sponsorship restrictions.
  • Proven ability to function as a clinical-technical liaison, with demonstrated success translating clinical requirements into health IT specifications and effectively communicating across multidisciplinary stakeholder groups in a federal or large healthcare system environment.
