GE Vernova is seeking Lead Electrical Technicians to support commissioning and service activities on the Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm.



This role is suited to experienced LV/HV electrical professionals with a strong commissioning background and proven capability in leading offshore technical teams. In this position, you will be responsible for the safe execution and supervision of LV and HV electrical commissioning activities on offshore wind turbines, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and energized in accordance with design documentation, method statements, and applicable standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical judgment, disciplined adherence to safety processes, and effective team coordination offshore.



Candidates will be considered for roles on both the Commissioning and Services teams supporting Dogger Bank.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead offshore teams performing installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance, and fault rectification on LV and HV electrical systems for wind turbines
• Execute and supervise commissioning activities in line with approved method statements, risk assessments, commissioning procedures, and GE Vernova safe systems of work

• Support work across key electrical systems and components, including:
  • power converters
  • transformers
  • HV/LV switchgear
  • circuit breakers and protection systems
  • LV control systems

• Interpret and utilize electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure correct system configuration
• Support senior engineers during energization, functional testing, and handover activities
• Ensure accurate completion of commissioning documentation, test records, and non-conformance reports
• Diagnose LV and HV electrical faults using appropriate test and diagnostic equipment
• Lead fault-finding activities using a systematic root-cause analysis approach
• Interface with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex issues and implement corrective actions
• Maintain strict compliance with GE Vernova and industry electrical safety rules
• Execute switching, electrical isolations, and control of work within authorized limits
• Conduct task-specific or last-minute risk assessments and toolbox talks before and during field execution
• Supervise and mentor Electrical Technicians, ensuring safe systems of work and consistent technical standards
• Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and procedural feedback

Required Qualifications:

• Electrical or Wind Technician apprenticeship, diploma, or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience working on LV and HV electrical systems
• Proven HV switching experience on 11 kV and 33 kV systems
• HVWP1 City & Guilds certification or equivalent
• Proven experience in commissioning, electrical service, or related field execution activities in wind or comparable industrial environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams in field-based environments
• Strong competence in reading and validating electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Hands-on experience with electrical testing, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
• Strong understanding of protection systems, electrical safety rules, and commissioning methodologies

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience leading commissioning electrical teams offshore in wind, oil and gas, or other marine HV environments
• Experience working within an MV or HV electrical authorization framework
• Experience with HV switching on systems up to 72 kV
• Strong technical judgment and disciplined approach to safe execution offshore
• Ability to lead technical teams, maintain discipline offshore, and develop technician capability
• Strong communication and coordination skills across technicians, engineers, and technical support teams
• Commitment to procedural compliance, continuous improvement, and lessons learned
• Additional relevant certifications such as HV Safety, Electrical Authorization, or Certified Electrical Technician
