AI Summary

VP of Marketing

Company Overview: brightfin provides clients with a suite of IT financial management and managed software subscriptions to enable your organization to rationalize, comprehend, normalize, optimize, and allocate spend to clearly show IT’s value in delivering revenue, services, and organizational enablement for the enterprise

The role

You will build the function, own the category narrative, and go on offense in one of the most open competitive windows our market has seen in a decade.

What you own

  • The category narrative. Brightfin is defining AI-Native IT Spend Optimization. You make the category real in analyst conversations, in CIO vocabularies, and across every external surface we touch.
  • Demand generation and account-based marketing. Pipeline contribution to new ARR is a number we will set together — and one you will be measured against.
  • Competitive displacement strategy. The IBM/Apptio window is open now. You partner with our CRO on a structured displacement motion targeting a defined set of Apptio accounts in year one.
  • Content, thought leadership, and the Brightfin podcast. The podcast is live and ready for its next chapter under your ownership.
  • Brand, website, and all external communications. Including how Brightfin shows up in the ServiceNow ecosystem and at marquee events like Knowledge and FinOps X.
  • The Annual IT Spend Optimization Benchmark. Our category-defining IP — cross-customer data no competitor can replicate. Getting this published is on you.
  • The team you build. Lean, AI-native, outcome-obsessed. Scale as pipeline scales.

What you bring

Non-negotiables

  • Enterprise B2B SaaS marketing leadership at the VP level, with a track record of building pipeline for complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales.
  • A builder identity. You have built a marketing function from scratch or near-scratch at a growth-stage company. You do not need a team to be effective.
  • Deep familiarity with the enterprise CIO and IT finance buyer — how they think, what they read, and where they trust.
  • Category creation or market repositioning experience. We are creating a category, not following one.
  • An AI-native working style. You are comfortable using AI in your daily work. This is a cultural requirement at Brightfin, not a preference.

Strongly preferred

  • Experience in or adjacent to TEM, ITFM, FinOps, IT Asset Management, or cloud cost management.
  • ServiceNow ecosystem fluency — partner marketing, marketplace, or co-sell experience.
  • PE-backed growth company experience. You know the velocity, the discipline, and the expectation of measurable outcomes.
  • Competitive displacement experience against an entrenched incumbent (IBM, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Podcast or content-led marketing experience. Thought leadership is central to our brand
