Job DetailsPosition Type: Full TimeJob Category: Information TechnologyThe VP of Architecture and Software Engineering is a senior executive role responsible for leading Kurv’s technology architecture vision, engineering strategy, and engineering execution. This leader will drive the design, development, and evolution of scalable, secure, and high-performing systems while spearheading the company’s artificial intelligence strategy. Operating fully remotely, this individual will collaborate closely with executive leadership to align technology investments with business objectives and position Kurv as a technology-forward organization in the payments industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI Strategy & Innovation
Define and lead Kurv’s enterprise-wide artificial intelligence and machine learning strategy
Identify high-impact use cases for AI across operations, risk, product, and customer experience
Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI tools, platforms, and vendor partnerships
Establish governance frameworks for responsible and compliant AI usage
Stay ahead of industry trends and translate emerging AI capabilities into business value
2. Architectural Strategy & Technical Direction
Develop and own the enterprise architecture roadmap across infrastructure, data, applications, and security
Establish architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across all engineering teams
Lead decisions on build vs. buy, cloud strategy, API architecture, and systems integration
Ensure architecture supports scalability, reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance
Drive technical due diligence for new technology initiatives and vendor evaluations
3. Engineering Leadership & Software Quality Assurance
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing distributed engineering organization
Partner with IT, Product, and Operations to deliver against strategic roadmap priorities
Champion engineering excellence including code quality, security, testing, and CI/CD practices
Drive cross-functional collaboration and communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Own engineering KPIs and present technology strategy updates to executive leadership and board
Own and evolve the organization’s software quality assurance strategy, establishing standards for test coverage, defect management, and release quality gates across all engineering teams
Champion a shift-left testing culture by embedding QA practices early in the SDLC, including unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
4. Organizational & Budget Management
Develop and manage the engineering and architecture department budget
Lead workforce planning, hiring, and development of technical talent
Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and third-party technology partnerships
Qualifications
Required
15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and/or technology architecture
5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role (VP level or above)
Demonstrated experience developing and executing AI/ML strategy at an enterprise level
Deep experience in leveraging AI LLMs to drive organizational efficiency and transformation
Deep expertise in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed systems design
Strong background in API design, microservices, and systems integration
Experience in the fintech, payments, or financial services industry
Proven ability to lead remote, distributed teams across time zones
Excellent executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred
Experience in PCI-DSS compliant environments or regulated financial technology platforms
Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, or other security/compliance frameworks
Background in enterprise data architecture, data governance, or analytics platforms

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote — candidates may be located anywhere within the United States
Travel: Occasional travel may be required for leadership summits, team meetings, or strategic planning sessions
