What You'll Do 

As a Virtual Tax Support Specialist, you'll be the go-to expert for our do-it-yourself clients, guiding them through their tax questions with clarity, empathy, and confidence. 

 

You'll collaborate with a remote team of tax professionals to deliver fast, accurate, and friendly support primarily through chat-based interactions, helping customers confidently navigate tax situations and our digital tax preparation products. 

 

Your Day-to-Day Will Include 

• Engaging with clients primarily through chat and approved digital support tools to answer tax-related questions. 

• Helping clients navigate our online tax prep tools with ease. 

• Providing clear, supportive guidance to help clients feel confident and empowered. 

• Researching federal and state tax laws to provide accurate, up-to-date information. 

• Using our proprietary tools and resources to deliver top-tier client support. 

• Collaborating with teammates to share insights, solve problems, and improve the client experience. 

• Escalating complex tax situations to advanced support teams when appropriate. 

• Managing multiple conversations, systems, and knowledge resources in a fast-paced virtual environment. 

• Embracing new challenges and opportunities as they arise.

Required Qualifications

 

• Demonstrated tax knowledge through tax preparation experience, tax education, tax support experience. 
• Customer service experience in a professional environment. 
• Successful completion of required H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessments. A quiet, dedicated workspace and a reliable internet connection. 
• Ability to work from an approved secure remote work location that meets company security and privacy requirements.  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience preparing individual income tax returns. 
• Experience supporting customers in a contact center, chat support, or digital service environment. 
• Experience working in a retail tax office, tax firm, financial services organization, or tax-related support role. 
• Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, attorney, AFSP participant, or other tax credentials.

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.

Pay Range

$18.41 - $27.64/Hr.
