The Vice President of Talent Acquisition will lead the enterprise-level strategy for recruiting, ensuring the organization attracts and hires mission-driven talent across all levels. As the Vice President of Talent Acquisition at New Story, you will lead the strategy and execution behind bringing the right people into our special education schools and programs, partnering closely with senior leaders across the organization to meet workforce needs as we grow. This role blends enterprise-level strategic leadership with hands-on team building to ensure we consistently attract, select, and hire the qualified, mission-driven talent our students and schools depend on.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, organizational development, or related discipline is required. Masters preferred.
10 - 15 years of progressively responsible experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or workforce strategy, preferably in a best-in-class company and in the education industry
Field experience working across a highly geographically distributed employee population
Strong project management and process improvement background
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective strategies and actions.
Exceptional leadership skills to lead change and push against organization obstacles.
Proven responsibility for significant operating budgets, recruiting technology, external search firms, vendors, and performance metrics.
Demonstrated success advising executive leadership and aligning talent strategies with organizational growth and business objectives.
Experience leading large-scale process improvement, organizational change, or talent acquisition transformation initiatives.
What You'll Do
Own and execute the enterprise TA strategy, aligned to business goals, workforce plans, and HR strategy
Partner with senior leaders to define current/future staffing needs and required competencies
Build and lead a TA team that consistently hits recruiting targets across a dispersed organization
Build diverse talent pipelines across executive, professional, specialized, high-volume, early-career, and hard-to-fill roles, using workforce analytics and market intelligence
Develop consistent assessment/selection tools and methodologies across all levels
Advance equitable, inclusive recruiting practices
Establish KPIs and scorecards (time to fill, cost per hire, quality of hire, offer acceptance, candidate/hiring-manager experience, turnover) and report insights to leaders
Own and optimize the ATS and recruiting technology stack
Build trusted relationships with managers and senior leaders on talent risk and workforce decisions
Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (total rewards, L&D, performance, succession) to align TA with broader talent strategy
Strengthen employer brand and EVP with HR, marketing, and communications
Set enterprise recruiting standards and governance while staying responsive to regional needs
Manage the TA budget and external vendor relationships (search firms, agencies, tech providers)
Ensure compliance with employment law, data privacy, and ethical hiring standards
Lead TA planning for M&A, expansions, reorgs, and workforce transformation
Present TA results, risks, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the board
