Job Summary:

Are you an experienced healthcare compliance leader with a passion for regulatory integrity, risk management, and building a culture of ethics and accountability?
 

Join us as the Vice President of Compliance! The Vice President of Compliance is a senior compliance leader responsible for the overall effectiveness, consistency, and integrity of the Compliance and Privacy Officer (CPO) programs across all assigned markets. This role provides direct supervision and strategic oversight of market Compliance and Privacy Officers (CPOs) and Integrity Managers.
 

The VP of Compliance is ultimately accountable for all elements of the compliance program within assigned markets, ensuring regulatory adherence, operational consistency, ethical culture, and meaningful risk mitigation. This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and directly supervises market Compliance and Privacy Officers (CPOs).
 

As a key member of the Compliance Leadership team, the VP of Compliance provides executive leadership across assigned markets, supports enterprise compliance initiatives, and serves as a senior compliance resource to operational and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive leadership and oversight for compliance programs across all assigned markets

  • Serve as the ultimate point of accountability for the effectiveness of market compliance programs and CPO performance

  • Hire, onboard, train, mentor, support, and evaluate Compliance and Privacy Officers and Integrity Managers

  • Lead team meetings and encourage positive team morale

  • Initiate timely and effective corrective action for Compliance and Privacy Officers and Integrity Managers as necessary

  • Ensure Market Compliance Committees meet quarterly and that required documentation is provided in advance for review

  • Ensure consistent implementation of compliance standards, policies, procedures, and practices across assigned markets

  • Establish clear expectations and accountability frameworks for CPOs and Integrity Managers

  • Exercise executive decision-making authority on complex, high-risk, or sensitive compliance matters

  • Provide guidance and oversight for compliance investigations, audits, corrective actions, and regulatory responses

  • Provide guidance, tools, and training to Market Compliance and Privacy Officers regarding the development and execution of market risk assessments

  • Ensure compliance support aligns with federal and state laws, regulations, and OIG Compliance Program Guidance

  • Develop, standardize, monitor, and analyze compliance effectiveness metrics across assigned markets, including training completion, hotline utilization, investigation timeliness, and non-retaliation awareness

  • Partner with the Chief Compliance Officer on strategic planning, compliance work plans, and enterprise initiatives

  • Ensure meaningful, accurate, and timely reporting of compliance issues to executive leadership and governance bodies

  • Regularly report compliance issues and concerns to the Chief Compliance Officer

  • Report to market subsidiary boards, as necessary

  • Support and reinforce a culture of ethics, transparency, non-retaliation, and accountability

  • Serve as a senior compliance resource to operational and executive leadership

  • Serve as a key member of the Compliance Leadership team

  • Develop and evaluate system compliance policies and procedures that establish compliance standards across the enterprise

  • Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations and remain informed of changes that may affect healthcare organizations through professional development, seminars, newsletters, training programs, and peer engagement

  • Assist CPOs in developing annual market compliance plans and hold CPOs accountable for plan completion

  • Work closely with all levels of management to ensure consistency and compliance across assigned markets

  • Attend market Corporate Compliance Committee meetings

  • Establish and implement processes for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and acting on disclosures concerning organizational compliance, integrity, and privacy

  • Test the compliance hotline monthly

  • Provide interim leadership coverage for CPOs or Integrity Managers as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned
     

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibilities and is responsible for providing direction, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to Compliance and Privacy Officers and Integrity Managers in accordance with system policies. The VP of Compliance is responsible for hiring, onboarding, supporting, evaluating, and, when necessary, initiating corrective action for direct reports.
 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, management, or a related field required

  • Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, JD) preferred

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory compliance, or risk management required

  • Demonstrated experience supervising others required
     

Required License/Certification:

  • Professional compliance certification, such as CHC or CHPC, required or must be obtained within six months of hire
     

Additional Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of federal and state healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health regulatory environments

  • Proven executive-level people management and leadership capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build consistency across decentralized or multi-market operations

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong judgment and executive decision-making abilities

  • Ability to manage high-risk, sensitive, and confidential matters with discretion

  • Advanced analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to present to both large and small audiences and help others understand complex concepts

  • Ability to influence, coach, and hold leaders accountable at all organizational levels

  • Behavioral health or social services experience strongly preferred
