Responsibilities as a : Construction Accounting & Job Costing
Construction Accounting & Job Costing
• Manage all project-based accounting activities, including job costing and budget tracking.
• Monitor project expenses, subcontractor payments, purchase orders, and vendor transactions.
• Ensure project financial performance is accurately recorded and reported.
• Identify cost overruns and financial risks and provide recommendations to management.
• Maintain financial controls to ensure projects remain profitable and within budget.
Core Accounting Operations
• Oversee daily accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash management.
• Maintain complete and organized financial records.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure all accounting records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
• Assist leadership with financial analysis and reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Communication & Financial Oversight
• Serve as a key financial resource for project managers and operational leaders.
• Communicate project financial performance, cash flow status, and budget updates clearly and professionally.
• Support management in making informed business decisions through accurate financial reporting.
• Coordinate effectively with domestic and international stakeholders when required.
Process Improvement & Financial Governance
• Review existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement more efficient financial reporting processes.
• Strengthen controls, reporting accuracy, and operational accountability.
• Promote consistency, compliance, and financial discipline throughout the organization.
Payroll & Compliance Support
• Assist with payroll processing and related reporting requirements.
• Support compliance activities, audits, and regulatory reporting obligations.
• Ensure payroll and financial records are maintained according to company and legal standards.
Qualifications
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• Proven experience working within a construction company environment.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, project accounting, and budget forecasting.
• Experience supporting U.S.-based construction companies strongly preferred.
• Exposure to UK or Australian accounting practices is an advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting controls.
