Summary

  • We are looking for a professional to analyze title insurance risks, provide underwriting solutions, and ensure compliance with laws. This role involves handling residential and limited commercial transactions, conducting training seminars, and delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a J.D. degree, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and be a member in good standing with the TN Bar. Strong knowledge of Tennessee real property law and the title insurance industry, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, are essential.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze title insurance risks, underwriting issues, and regulatory concerns
  • Provide underwriting solutions to agents, sales team, and title examiners in accordance with Westcor company guidelines as well as local, state and federal law.
  • Handle residential as well as limited commercial transactions underwriting
  • Present training seminars to educate title agents and production staff (both online and in person)
  • Provide outstanding customer service while making sound underwriting decisions
  • Handle a high volume of underwriting inquiries via email and telephone in a timely, responsive, and professional manner
  • Analyze and respond to indemnity requests
  • Travel with sales staff for agent visits throughout the state
  • Work well in a remote team environment

 

Skills and knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of real estate title and settlement process.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience concentrated in Tennessee real property and title insurance.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of Tennessee real property law and related areas as applicable to real property transactions
  • Knowledge of the Tennessee title insurance industry

License Requirements:

  • Must be a member in good standing with the Tennessee Bar.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
