Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced and highly capable UK Security Manager / Group Security Controller to manage and oversee all aspects of protective security for its UK operations. This role will ensure compliance with UK Government Security requirements, including the HMG Security Framework, Information Assurance Standards, and Good Practice Guides. The role is critical in safeguarding the organisation's people, information, assets, and operations while supporting business resilience and crisis management efforts. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively as part of a global security function, providing regional leadership and expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This is a UK based *remote position.

What you will do:

Strategic Leadership and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement security strategies and initiatives that align with organisational goals and comply with UK Government Security requirements, including the HMG Security Policy Framework, ISO 17799 & 27001 Security Frameworks, Information Assurance Standards, HMG International Visits Control Office (IVCO) notifications, and Cabinet Office STAMP requirements. 

  • Act as the Group Security Controller, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including the management of Security Aspects Letters (SALs) and the flow-down of security requirements to third parties and subcontractors. 

  • Support Security Controllers and Site Security Control Officials at UK locations to ensure compliance to both legal and company requirements.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the UK Defence Sector’s security needs and vetting processes, ensuring full compliance with local laws, regulations, and customer expectations. 

  • Conduct and oversee internal and external audits to ensure adherence to security policies and frameworks. 

Facility and Physical Security Management:

  • Oversee security operations across multiple UK sites, including site access, access control, visitor management, and maintenance of accreditations. 

  • Conduct regular physical security assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement risk mitigation measures. 

  • Support the management of technical and physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, alarm response procedures, and visitor management systems, in collaboration with the Global Security team and relevant Centres of Excellence (COEs). 

  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders in respect of on-site and off-site events, including overseas travel as required. 

Security Awareness and Training: 

  • Deliver security awareness training programs for both security and non-security practitioners on both HMG Security Frameworks and Physical Security requirements. 

  • Conduct regular security briefings to senior leadership, site-based Security Control Officials, and employees. 

  • Coordinate and support emergency response drills, ensuring all sites maintain updated security and evacuation plans. 

Incident Response and Risk Management:

  • Lead incident response efforts, including investigations, reporting, root-cause analysis, and post-incident reviews. 

  • Monitor emerging threats (e.g., geopolitical, terrorism, natural disasters) and conduct threat assessments and risk analyses to develop mitigation strategies. 

  • Provide guidance and support to project/program teams on meeting customer security requirements, highlighting and escalating risks where necessary. 

Vendor and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Support locations with the management of third-party security vendors, contracts, and on-site personnel, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance. 

  • Collaborate with HR, IT Security, Legal, Facilities, and other regional and global stakeholders to foster an integrated security culture. 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with emergency services, law enforcement agencies, and ISAC/Contracting Authorities. 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience You Must Have:

  • Extensive experience in UK Government Security practices, including HMG Security Framework, Information Assurance Standards, and Good Practice Guides. 

  • In-depth knowledge of the UK Defence Sector, including Cabinet Office STAMP requirements and UK Security Vetting processes. 

  • Familiarity with cryptographic material management and the role of a Crypto Custodian. 

  • Proven regional or multi-site leadership experience in security, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders. 

  • Strong understanding of physical and technical security systems, crisis management, risk mitigation practices, and information assurance. 

  • Experience writing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver briefings and build relationships at all levels, including senior leadership and board-level executives. 

  • Ability to work independently and proactively, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 

  • Prior relevant experience in protective security roles, including positions in corporate, regional, or government security. 

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English.

  • Strong understanding of physical security systems, crisis management, and risk mitigation practices.

  • Prior experience managing a budget and supervising both direct and indirect employees and contractors.

  • Eligibility to achieve UK SC-level security clearance (existing clearance is highly desirable). 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience We Prefer:

  • Membership of professional security and information assurance bodies (e.g., DISA, ASIS). 

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP). 

  • Detailed understanding of ISO 17799 & 27001 Security Frameworks. 

  • Familiarity with cryptographic material management and the role of a Crypto Custodian. 

  • Experience supporting travel security and executive protection initiatives. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across the UK, sometimes at short notice (circa 25-30%) 

  • Occasional travel to the wider EMEA region.

  • High level of integrity and discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive information. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a global security function, collaborating across different regions and cultures.
