UI Artist (Game Industry)

We are looking for a UI Artist to collaborate with UX Designers and the broader UI team to create polished, intuitive player experiences for our AAA development partner.

You will take wireframes and UX concepts and bring them to life through high-quality visual design, motion, and final implementation in Unreal Engine. This role is primarily focused on visual craft and player-facing presentation rather than engineering.

Requirements

In this role, you will

• Collaborate with UX Design, Technical UI Design, UI Engineering, and other UI Artists to create AAA-quality UI experiences.
• Translate wireframes and UX flows into polished visual designs.
• Create high-fidelity mockups, visual explorations, design systems, and style guides.
• Design menus, HUD elements, iconography, and other player-facing UI.
• Create UI animation, motion design, visual effects, and transitions.
• Implement final UI art directly in Unreal Engine using UMG.
• Create and modify UI materials and basic visual effects as appropriate.
• Work in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and comparable tools to create and iterate on UI art.
• Maintain consistency and quality across the broader UI/UX experience.
• Take features from initial concept through final implementation while adapting quickly as requirements change.

What we're looking for

• At least 2 years of professional experience creating UI from concept through completion.
• Professional Unreal Engine and UMG experience.
• Excellent visual design skills demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
• Strong skills with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable visual design software.
• Strong knowledge of layout, composition, hierarchy, typography, iconography, and interaction design.
• Experience with UI animation, motion design, or interactive visual design.
• Experience implementing final UI artwork in a game engine rather than working exclusively in static design tools.
• The ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with UX, Art, Design, Engineering, and Production.
• Strong player empathy and an understanding of how visual design supports usability and interaction.
• The ability to adapt quickly as feature requirements and designs evolve.

Preferred

• Experience shipping UI on PC, console, or mobile games.
• Experience designing responsive interfaces across resolutions and device types.
• Mobile UI experience.
• Experience with UI materials and shaders.
• Experience with optimization or debugging of in-engine UI.

Frontend HTML, CSS, and JavaScript experience may be useful adjacent experience but is not required.
