The Traveling Facilities Specialist plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence across the Yugo portfolio. This role is designed for a highly skilled facilities professional with regional or multi-site maintenance experience who thrives in fast-paced environments and is willing to travel extensively (up to 90%) to support properties during high-need periods.

The Traveling Facilities Specialist is a hands-on subject matter expert who partners closely with Area Facilities Managers, site-level teams, and the SVP of Facilities and Development Services to stabilize operations, support turn and move-in readiness, ensure compliance, and elevate maintenance standards across the portfolio. This role balances technical execution with coaching and training, helping develop our on-site Yugoers while ensuring our spaces remain safe, compliant, and welcoming.

This role reports to the SVP of Facilities and Development Services and supports an assigned portfolio of properties nationwide.

Here's what you'll be doing!

  • Lead by example through exhibiting and reinforcing the Yugo Operations culture. 
  • Travel extensively to support properties with facilities operations, staffing gaps, high work-order volume, turn readiness, and operational recovery.
  • Support work order completion and make-ready execution to ensure service level expectations are met.
  • Assist with site-level procurement and inventory management, ensuring materials and resources align with budget and operational needs.
  • Conduct property inspections and reviews related to facilities compliance, including operational permits, life safety systems testing, preventative maintenance schedules, and inspection logs.
  • Partner with Area Facilities Managers, Regional Managers, and on-site teams to identify gaps and implement corrective action plans.
  • Provide hands-on technical support across trades, including HVAC diagnostics and repair, plumbing, electrical, and general facilities maintenance.
  • Support development and upkeep of property-specific O&M plans and preventative maintenance programs
  • Deliver timely updates to the SVP of Facilities and Development Services identifying risks, challenges, and opportunities observed in the field.
  • Participate in and support systems training, compliance courses (EPA, OSHA, trade-specific), operations meetings, and company initiatives.
  • Coach and train on-site maintenance teams to improve technical skill, efficiency, and confidence.
  • Build strong peer-to-peer relationships with on-site Yugoers to drive accountability and performance.
  • Collect and analyze data from inspections, reporting, and system workflows to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, People & Culture, Accounting, Sales, and Marketing to support shared business objectives.
  • Support turn and move-in preparation by ensuring facilities readiness, materials availability, and execution consistency.

Requirements

Education / Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of facilities or maintenance experience in student housing, multifamily, hospitality, or similar environments.
• Regional or multi-site maintenance experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while supporting multiple properties and teams.

• EPA III and above type certification

 

Language Ability:
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with on-site teams and leadership.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).

 

Math Ability:
• Ability to calculate percentages, measurements, and basic financial figures.
• Ability to take and interpret dimensional measurements.
• Ability to use and interpret diagnostic tools including, but not limited to:

  • Multimeter
  • Temperature sensors
  • Moisture meters
  • Pressure gauges and HVAC manifold gauges
  • Water quality testing kits
  • Mold and lead testing kits

Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to solve practical problems in environments with limited standardization.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
• Ability to act with discretion and authority in health and safety matters.

Computer Skills:
• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Entrata or equivalent property management systems.
• App-based preventative maintenance, inspection, and asset tracking platforms.
