Position Description

Renewance is seeking a Field Service Technician – Medium Voltage Transformers to support the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and decommissioning of medium voltage transformers used in utility-scale energy storage and renewable energy facilities. This role will primarily support transformer assets from leading OEMs while also assisting with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), power conversion equipment, and related electrical infrastructure.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced electrical technician who enjoys hands-on field work, solving technical challenges, and supporting the transition to a cleaner energy future.

The estimated pay range for this role is $40.00-$60.00 per hour, based on previous experience and certification. Candidates with more or less experience are encouraged to apply, as competitive pay will be offered for your experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of medium voltage transformers and associated electrical equipment.
• Support transformer commissioning, energization, and decommissioning activities.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with maintenance and service activities on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and customer deliverables.
• Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
• Serve as a professional representative of Renewance at customer sites throughout North America.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with medium voltage electrical equipment, transformers, switchgear, substations, or power systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to lead a small team on worksites and ensure work quality and project completion
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in outdoor industrial environments.
• Valid driver's license and ability to access customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Experience supporting Sungrow, CATL, Powin, Fluence, Tesla, or similar energy infrastructure.
• OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, NETA, NICET, or related certifications.
• Associate degree or technical training in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or a related field.

Travel & Location

• Requires 75% or more travel to customer sites.
