The Tour Manager acts as a representative for ATP players, managing on-site tournament operations and facilitating communication between players, tournament staff, and the ATP. They are responsible for player education regarding rules and policies while ensuring efficient tournament scheduling and fair treatment of all participants.
The Tour Manager functions as a member of the Player Relations Department, reporting to the Director - Player Relations. The Tour Manager is a representative for the player members of the ATP, with responsibilities at ATP sanctioned tournaments (Tour and Challenger) and in the regional offices.
The Tour Manager’s primary role comprises four pillars: on-site operations, service provided to players and tournaments, communication, and player education. The Tour Manager also functions in an official capacity, working closely with the ATP Tour Supervisor and tournament director to ensure that the tournament is run efficiently, and the players are treated fairly. Underlying each of these responsibilities is the Tour Manager’s ability to communicate effectively with all types of players, tournament staff, the other members of the Player Relations Department, as well as, with all other departments within the ATP. This position requires extensive travel.
Communication
Coordinate and conduct individual and group player meetings to discuss tournament and ATP issues.
Attend General Player and Player Advisory Council (PAC) meetings as requested.
Collaborate with members of the PAC to ensure proactive communication of all player and ATP issues to the playing group.
Work closely with the Director, Player Relations and other members of the team as well as members of the Sporting Division
Join forces with members of other departments as a true team player, making sure the organization speaks with one voice.
Be a constructive source of communication to players and have the ability to be a strong advocate of the ATP.
Inform players about new ATP rules and policies and changes in existing ones.
Respond to questions about different issues regarding ATP membership and its programs.
Service/Administration
Take entries and withdrawals from ATP members.
Provide information about upcoming events.
Represent players regarding rules interpretation and officiating.
Inform players on key Tour and tournament matters.
Education
Educate players on ATP and Grand Slams rules.
Educate players on all player-related Tour matters.
Educate players on the vision of the ATP Tour and the Player Relations Department.
Official Tournament Duties- Operations
Assist in making daily match schedules and tournament draws.
Represent players' interests in the daily order of play.
Service ATP player programs.
Attend meetings with tournament director and staff as required.
Assist with player requests and ongoing issues that arise at a tournament.
Conduct tournament evaluations with players, as requested.
Departmental Duties
Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new player members.
Initiate and develop programs to enhance player membership.
Communicate with players to exchange ideas and suggestions on how to improve our services.
Present and conduct training sessions about Player Relations as required.
Bachelor's Degree preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Management or equivalent experience.
Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Extensive tennis knowledge.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work with others.
Ability to think creatively, problem solve and formulate new ideas.
