The Tobacco Control Research group is conducting a multi-state surveillance study to understand cannabis market behavior and its intersection with the tobacco use landscape and inform tobacco control policies and cannabis legalization. The intern would gain skills and provide support related to data management, data analyses, and assistance with literature reviews. This project provides an opportunity to be involved in developing research and policy priorities related to cancer prevention.
The intern will have the opportunity to participate in project development and implementation related to tobacco control research as described above, learn skills for scientific research by conducting data analyses, present analytical results to both internal and external collaborators, contribute to drafting research proposals and manuscripts, and perform other scientific activities under the supervision of a senior researcher.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare and analyze data to evaluate cannabis legalization, monitor outcomes such as cannabis product potency and prices; write, test, and submit computer programs in Stata.
· Assist with data management and related analyses.
· Conduct literature reviews, assist in developing research proposals, as well as scientific writing.
· Prepare tables and figures for scientific presentations using Excel and/or PowerPoint.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
· REQUIRED: Data analysis experience. Preferably Stata or R programming skills in a public health research environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
· PREFERRED: Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analysis of data collected through surveys and secondary sources would be an advantage in this position.

The hourly rate is $20. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
