Test Manager (Software Engineering)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Test Manager to join a long-term project with a leading company in the retail sector.

You will be responsible for leading quality assurance activities across complex technology programmes, driving test automation, quality engineering and shift-left practices while ensuring successful delivery across Agile, Waterfall and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

-Define and own test strategies, test plans and delivery approaches.

-Lead and mentor cross-functional testing teams.

-Drive an automation-first approach and promote Quality Engineering best practices.

-Champion shift-left testing throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

-Manage SIT, UAT, regression and release testing activities.

-Oversee defect and risk management, ensuring clear quality reporting.

-Coordinate non-functional testing, including performance, load and security testing.

-Support projects delivered using Agile, Waterfall and hybrid methodologies.

-Provide quality governance and regular reporting to stakeholders.

-Influence quality-related decisions and continuously improve testing approaches.

Essential skills

-Proven experience as a Test Manager within large-scale enterprise programmes.

-Strong understanding of test automation and Quality Engineering principles.

-Experience working across Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.

-Strong knowledge of shift-left testing and engineering-led quality practices.

-Experience overseeing non-functional testing activities.

-Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.

-Ability to lead teams, define testing approaches and influence key quality decisions.
