Telehealth Nurse Practitioner – Sexual Health & HIV Care

About the Opportunity

OpenLoop is seeking a compassionate, experienced Nurse Practitioner for a 1099 independent contractor opportunity providing virtual sexual health and HIV care. This role supports patients seeking preventive services, including PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and DoxyPEP, as well as individuals living with HIV.

The ideal candidate is committed to providing inclusive, stigma-free, patient-centered care and improving access for diverse populations, including the LGBTQ2IA+ community. Through a combination of live virtual consultations and asynchronous care, you will help patients make informed decisions, navigate treatment options, and maintain continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

Live Virtual Consultations

• Provide high-quality, inclusive care through scheduled consultations on a virtual care platform.

• Conduct comprehensive initial assessments, including medical histories, risk assessments, and psychosocial evaluations.

• Educate patients on the prevention of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, with an emphasis on HIV prevention, risk reduction, and behavioral counseling.

• Discuss treatment options and support patients in overcoming barriers to care and making informed decisions about their health.

Asynchronous Patient Care

• Order laboratory testing and diagnostic studies, interpret results, prescribe medications, and provide clinical follow-up.

• Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record.

• Use virtual care tools to support patient communication, prescribing, and ongoing care coordination.

• Collaborate with Registered Nurses and support team members to deliver coordinated care throughout the patient experience.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing and completion of a primary care Nurse Practitioner program.

• Active Nurse Practitioner licenses in at least 10 states, including at least one of the following: Texas, Florida, or California.

• At least 2 years of primary care experience.

• At least 1 year of eperience delivering virtual healthcare.

• Experience in HIV prevention and/or providing care to the LGBTQ2IA+ community.

• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a commitment to empathetic, culturally responsive care.

• Consistent availability for asynchronous responsibilities, including lab reviews, prescribing, and follow-up, along with scheduled live consultations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing care to gender-diverse and sexually diverse populations.

• Experience treating and managing patients living with HIV.

• Experience in a private-sector, startup, or technology-driven healthcare setting.

• Experience practicing independently or autonomously.

• Spanish fluency.

Schedule & Availability

This opportunity requires a commitment of 15–25 hours per week, including:

• Up to 15 hours of scheduled live patient consultations.

• Approximately 5–10 hours of asynchronous care tasks.

• At least 10 live consultation hours between Friday and Sunday to support consistent patient coverage.

Asynchronous tasks offer scheduling flexibility while requiring consistent availability to support timely patient care. Task volume may vary based on state licensure and patient needs.

Compensation & Contractor Details

• Compensation is task-based

• Actual earnings depend on task volume and completion

• This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity and does not include employee benefits.

• Contractors are responsible for providing their own laptop.
