Job Title: Engineer - ESS Technical Solutions   Job Description: This Engineer - ESS Technical Solutions shall perform as a technical/engineering expertise to support Sungrow’s ESS business. This position shall be responsible for delivering technical solutions for the pre-sale stage of the ESS projects, including but not limited to technical proposal, preliminary design, value engineering, documentation management, and compliance assurance. This position shall provide technical support to execution phase of the project, such as system commissioning & testing, ECOs and RCAs.   This position requires regular communication with US essential team and HQ engineering resources to help develop new ESS projects opportunities and provide technical support that respond to customer needs and provide competitive and innovative ESS solutions. The candidate will work as a key technical liaison with owner’s engineer and EPC partners during the design and construction phases and is expected to directly face customers and answer technical questions and provide technical guidance on system design, system testing and commissioning. The candidate will need to travel on regular basis as part of the sales and technical team.   The candidate will also need to travel to the site from time to time to perform on-site technical support during the project execution phase. This position will require up to 50% travel time. This position will report to the Manager of Technical Solution – ESS. Key Responsibilities: 1. Analyze ESS project RFP, intake form, specification, and customer requests to determine all technical delivery requirements. 2. Work closely with sales and engineering teams to generate technical proposals and provide overall technical solutions to customers. 3. Collaborate with HQ team to support project engineering during the project execution phase, including but not limited to BOS design, supporting 3rd party engineering study, EPC system level design etc. 4. Be a technical liaison for the Sales team, customers, and other essential teams to assure internal alignment.   5. Perform as a technical expert for general ESS product application, specification, and technical inquiries, and develop and refine technical specs and drawings as needed.   6. Manage the internal and external technical portals to better facilitate internal and customer needs. 7. Support in the contract review process to assurance technical risks are captured and fully vetted.   8. Work closely with HQ solution center and NA product engineering team to manage the product updates and technical changes   9. Travel with sales to provide technical support and better demonstrate product technical advantages 10. Interpret UL, IEEE, IEC, NEC, North American grid code requirements and other regulatory requirements and provide input to the company’s product line 11. Attend industry trade shows and marketing events to support the improvement and expansion of the company’s brand recognition Minimum Requirements: • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the renewable industry. Direct experience within BESS integrator or EPC contractor would be a strong plus.   • Minimum three (3) years’ direct technical experience from any of the following role: Product/System Engineering, Application Engineering, Project Engineering, or other similar. • Power Electronics/Battery Chemistry/Battery thermal management & fire protection system/Power System/Control System design experiences are desired. • Deep knowledge and direct experience in battery system configuration, installation, construction, design phase engineering, local jurisdiction requirement, project scheduling, system layout design, SLD, etc. • Thorough understanding and proficiency of local jurisdiction requirements, fire code UL9540/A, NFPA, NEC code, Electrical Safety Regulation, etc. • working knowledge of ESS product and system technical requirement in different market sectors (CAISO, ERCOT, NYISO, etc) • Excellent communication skills both oral and written across functions and all levels internally and externally • Proficient in AutoCAD or other drawing software to generate standard engineering drawing packages • Proven track record of successful troubleshooting using problem-solving skills and common methods • Good technical writing skills and be able to draft working instructions or Application Note • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or any technical or related business discipline is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
