About the Opportunity

At Element Science, we're developing innovative medical technology designed to protect patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Our work brings together engineering, clinical science, and a shared commitment to improving patient outcomes.

We're seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager Consultant to lead critical, cross-functional initiatives within our Research & Development organization.

In this hands-on consulting role, you'll partner with Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to bring structure, clarity, and momentum to complex technical projects. From defining project plans and aligning stakeholders to navigating risks and driving execution, you'll play a key role in moving innovative medical technology forward.

The ideal consultant is a proactive problem-solver who understands the complexities of regulated medical device development, thrives in dynamic environments, and knows how to turn technical challenges into actionable plans and measurable results.

What You'll Do

Lead Technical Projects

  • Develop and execute project plans outlining scope, deliverables, timelines, resources, dependencies, and milestones.

  • Establish project governance, clear accountability, and decision-making processes to support efficient execution.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to maintain momentum, resolve challenges, and deliver against project objectives.

  • Drive project execution across key phases of the product development lifecycle, from R&D through verification, validation, manufacturing readiness, and commercialization.

Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Operations to align priorities and deliverables.

  • Facilitate productive project meetings, communicate progress, and drive timely decisions.

  • Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders to achieve results without direct reporting authority.

Manage Resources, Risks, and Priorities

  • Identify resource requirements and collaborate with functional leaders to address capacity constraints.

  • Anticipate project risks, dependencies, and execution challenges, developing practical mitigation strategies.

  • Evaluate changes to project scope, timelines, and resources, recommending solutions that balance business priorities and technical requirements.

Track Progress and Deliver Results

  • Establish project milestones, performance metrics, and reporting mechanisms to monitor execution.

  • Maintain project schedules, dashboards, risk registers, and action logs.

  • Provide clear, actionable updates to project sponsors and leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and decisions needed.

  • Drive accountability for deliverables, issue resolution, and successful project completion.

  • Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations to support knowledge transfer and continuity.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Systems, or related discipline), or equivalent relevant technical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in the medical device industry, including demonstrated technical project management experience.

  • Strong understanding of the medical device product development lifecycle, from research and development through design transfer, manufacturing, commercialization, and post-market support.

  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional technical projects involving Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing.

  • Working knowledge of medical device design controls, verification and validation, risk management, and regulated development processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans, manage competing priorities, identify risks, and drive projects to completion.

  • Proficiency with project management tools, methodologies, scheduling, and performance reporting.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and drive accountability.

  • A hands-on, solutions-oriented approach and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
