As the Technical Manager, you will lead and empower a cross-functional digital squads comprising developers and QA analysts. Your primary focus is not on managing day-to-day delivery—the teams own their delivery and execution—but rather on building the capabilities, engineering excellence, and psychological safety they need to succeed.

 

You will act as a coach, mentor, and technical strategist. Your mission is to eliminate systemic friction, elevate technical standards, and support the career growth of your people. By championing best practices in the field of technology (e.g. unit testing, code quality, and QA automation, CI/CD, software design), you ensure your self-organizing team is equipped to deliver high-quality, scalable digital products autonomously.

Here's how you can contribute to our success:

  • Managing various development teams, supporting them on all technical aspects of the product to achieve the objectives and priorities set by Management.
  • Advising management teams in the analysis, design, planning, and evaluation of upstream work.
  • Acting as a catalyst in implementing technical solutions in collaboration with architects, development management, and the development teams.
  • Acting as a partner with directors and heads of Digital Media to ensure consistent direction:
  • Demonstrating strong leadership by leading by example. Acting as a leader and ambassador in implementing new ways of working and changes.
  • Taking a leadership role in identifying, communicating, and resolving issues encountered. Attempting to resolve them before escalating them to the respective responsible parties.
  • Proactively proposing ideas and solutions to improve our ways of working and achieve our objectives, and actively participating in their implementation with management.
  • Responsible for global communication of all technical aspects of the OTT product.
  • Raising potential technical and human issues to Management; proposing solutions to these issues; Attempting to resolve them before escalating them to the respective responsible parties.
  • Ensuring proactive monitoring to propose improvements in OTT product work methods.
  • Based on the technical needs of the portfolio, guiding technology choices, as well as the training plans necessary for the implementation of these choices.
  • Responsible for hiring talent into the team; supporting hiring in related fields.
  • In charge of setting objectives and evaluating the performance of developers under their responsibility.
  • Accountable for the integration of talent into their respective teams.
  • Supporting management in their assignment choices for different projects; Representing the team's needs during management's assignment choices.
  • Monitoring employee progress; coaching/mentoring.
  • Contributing to the internal and external visibility of the product.

 

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in team management, either in a specific expertise or product, or a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in managing technical teams in an OTT context.
  • Experience in establishing agentic practices within development teams.
  • Ability to work in a team, excellent communicator.
  • Ease in navigating ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Great ability to simplify technical concepts.
  • Excellent judgment, sense of initiative, great autonomy.
  • Your ability to rally the troops, to offer an inclusive, open, and collaborative work environment.
  • Rigor, autonomy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Your knowledge of best practices in digital development workflows.
  • Your ability to manage complex situations with strategic, financial, political, operational, and human aspects.
  • Your ability to ask the right questions at the right time.
  • Proficiency in French and English.

 

Please note this is a 12-month contract position, renewable annually. This regular position is not a consulting assignment but a long-term opportunity with attractive CBC/Radio-Canada employee benefits.
