Help Us Build the Teams That Keep Communities Running

At Wind River Environmental, we do work that matters.

Every day, our teams keep homes, businesses, municipalities and critical infrastructure operating by providing essential environmental and wastewater services. From septic and drain cleaning to plumbing, grease services and hydro excavation, our work isn't glamorous—but it's essential. Finding the right people to do that work safely, professionally and with pride is one of the most important things we do.

We're looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) Talent Acquisition Specialist who understands that great recruiting is about much more than filling openings. It's about building relationships, understanding the work, identifying people who will thrive in our culture, and helping our operations leaders build strong teams for the long term.

If you're someone who enjoys getting out into the business, learning how the work really gets done, and connecting great people with meaningful careers, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

You'll support one to two regions across the southern portion of our operating footprint, partnering closely with Branch Managers, Operations Managers, Supervisors and Regional HR Business Partners to recruit exceptional frontline talent.

While this is a remote position, we believe the best recruiters spend time in the business—not just behind a computer. You'll periodically visit branches, job sites and hiring events within your region to build relationships, better understand the work our teams perform and stay connected to the business.

You'll primarily recruit for positions such as:

  • CDL Drivers
  • Septic & Pump Truck Operators
  • Drain Cleaning Technicians
  • Plumbing Professionals
  • Diesel Mechanics
  • Skilled Trades Professionals
  • Other safety-sensitive field positions

No two branches are exactly alike. Some hiring managers have years of leadership experience. Others are newer leaders who know the work inside and out but are still growing into the people leadership side of their role.

Your job is to be a trusted recruiting partner—asking good questions, understanding what success looks like, helping managers think beyond resumes, and ultimately helping them hire people who will succeed at WRE.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Manage an average portfolio of 20–30 active requisitions, with hiring activity increasing during peak seasonal periods. At times, active requisitions may approach 50, often driven by multiple openings for the same role within a branch or region rather than 50 distinct positions.
  • Partner with Operations Managers and Supervisors to understand hiring needs, workforce challenges and what success looks like in each role.
  • Build strong working relationships with Regional HR Business Partners to align hiring activity with workforce planning, compensation practices and broader talent strategies.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners on hiring escalations, post-offer screening questions and other employment-related situations requiring additional review and guidance.
  • Conduct intake meetings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews and guide candidates through the hiring process from application to offer.
  • Conduct interviews in both English and Spanish.
  • Build strong candidate pipelines using multiple sourcing strategies, including sponsored job advertising, online recruiting platforms, employee referrals, networking and proactive outreach.
  • While you'll receive a healthy flow of inbound applicants, you'll also actively seek out high-quality passive candidates and continuously look for new ways to identify great talent.
  • Share market insights, candidate feedback and hiring recommendations that help managers make informed hiring decisions.
  • Deliver a responsive, professional and engaging candidate experience that reflects the Wind River Environmental brand.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting activity within our Applicant Tracking System (Paylocity experience is a plus).
  • Travel throughout your assigned region as needed to strengthen relationships, better understand local hiring markets and stay connected to field operations.

This Isn't Recruiting From Behind a Laptop

The best recruiters at Wind River Environmental don't just know job descriptions, they know the jobs. We encourage our recruiters to spend time in our branches, visit job sites, ride along with field crews, ask questions and see firsthand what our employees do every day.

Spend a morning with an installation crew. Ride along with a pump truck operator. Talk with an Ops Manager before the trucks roll out. Understanding the work helps you recognize the qualities that don't always show up on a resume.

You're looking beyond whether someone has a CDL, plumbing license or mechanical experience. You're evaluating work ethic, safety mindset, professionalism, resilience, customer service, pride in workmanship and whether someone will represent our company well in our customers' communities. Those are the qualities that build great teams.

What Success Looks Like

Success isn't measured simply by how quickly positions are filled. It's measured by whether the people you hire become valuable members of our team. The candidates you hire work safely. They take pride in their work. They represent Wind River Environmental professionally. They deliver great service to our customers. Six months from now, their manager is glad they joined the team.

You'll help our hiring managers look beyond licenses and resumes to identify people who genuinely fit the role and our culture. Sometimes that means moving quickly. Sometimes it means slowing down and having an honest conversation when you don't believe a candidate is the right long-term fit.

If you're comfortable balancing urgency with quality—and building strong relationships along the way—you'll be successful here.
